I have no dog in this fight, but I have been following your venture and want to commend you for what you are doing for the CTS-V community. There has been lots of complaining, so its nice to see someone come on here and right off the bat propose and build a solution without ever complaining!
Kudos to you! |

It sounded very smooth!!! you know that clunk sound you normally here when you bang second or third gear or the common deceleration at high RPM clunk???? that's gone!!! Wheel hop... it's not as brutal as it was, but it's still there. I think after we prove that this diff will take the abuse, wheel hop and all, we need to address the suspension. Shocks might be a good start. We need to stiffen it up a little bit!!! make it ride a little less like a cadillac and a little more like a vette!!!! I'm not an expert at suspension stuff so i'm going to shut my mouth!!! but what I am an expert on, is making speciality machined parts. and this one looks like a total success!!! Thank you for all your support... constructive and destructive I needed to here them both.
When Nutz left my house the diff had about 20 miles on it. He told me that it will have 100 before the night is up!!! |

You guys rock......we all know that the hop wouldn't be any different......couldn't be. Just a diff that holds up is all I'm hoping for. I can work around the hop. CONGRATULATIONS |

I have been Drag Racing for 35 years and there are three things I told him to do.
The first will be a new set of rear shocks, hopefully adjustable.
Re test the car and if it's gone then great, if not we go on to step two.
I will let Nutz post up more.
I was lucky to be one of three people, to go for a ride in Nutz's V. I was there today helping pull the old one out and putting the new one in. I can tell you guys first hand that this is a Work Or Art and Love. Wait till you guys see the pictures.
Regards

Gentlemen, I present to you the ONLY Cadillac CTS-V that will NEVER be in a a service garage needing a rear differential housing replacement!
But, with caution close at hand, there is much to learn and miles to be driven.
I put 44 miles on it today. No interior resonance and NO MORE LOW SPEED CLUNK. There are many more great things to say, but for right now let's just hope mother nature washes off the wretched salt of the earth off the Cleveland streets soon for more testing. Drove both city and highway and offered a few powershifts to the new addition with nothing but success. Yes, the dreaded wheelhop is still present, but it is reduced. It is mostly noticeable when the tires have spun and are trying to grab (not to mention my shocks have 60k on them). Housing is firmly mounted now and the wheelhop is all axle. My next step is to find a set of appropriate shocks. Feel free to chime in on some suggestions .
Stay tuned.
I will work on video soon.

Rear suspension will be for s*it for anything else but straight line "all get outs".
Great your beating the crap out of the new case.
Any bets on what fails first?

Any bets on what fails first? | I prefer to think of it as "durability testing" my investment... And I've got a hundred bucks on the rear tires failing first. |
