So in the case of these bushings, when they to chamfer it a little what they mean is taking a little material out from the inside of the bushing to help it slide in a little. Leave the outside alone as it's used to "lock into place"
Peeling a little on the inside on like a 45 degree from the outside edge is what they are talking about. I'm trying to picture what heavy is talking about.... +1 on WD40 or some soapy water... that helps a ton to lude it up a little bit |

I'll take photos, but will need help posting. I can only link to photobucket or something like that. It never works out, but we'll cross that bridge next week!
One more question, I'm reading aboiut tightness of bolts so it doesn't move around or feel too tight, also locktite. I'm guessing when reassembling, tighten the bolts, shift a little for feel and make adjustments. Once I'm satisfied, I can locktite. In using it at work I know it's difficult to open them again once it dries, and I'd rather not have to. |

Like I said just my opinion but your saving at least $200. | has anyone actually done this? feedback would be lovely |

I used this, the faq and the instructions for a hybrid attempt. Over all it went pretty well. It took me 6 hours total. I got stuck in a couple of places that just added to the time, but looking back it was a good experience. Thank god I'm small and have small hands. Trying to remove the exhaust I broke a bolt holding it to the flange. When drilling the rivits since I couldn't get at them from underneath, one walked a little and I had an interesting time trying to wear away the rivit part holding on still. One part that was really frustrating was the bushings. I knew that was coming and got a little frustrating. When installing the left one went on so easy. The right one, not so much. At this point Lilgcts-v showed up and lent a hand. I definately couldn't of gotten it done with out him, so Thank You! He helped me get the shifter itself attatched, I put some washers around the new bolts the kit supplies to help make up for where it walked. Taking it for a short spin was a dream. It makes the rest of the car feel loose. I took pictures, but between all three sources, there isn't anything not covered. Again thank you for all the previous posts and valuable information. I can't believe I waited 89,433 miles to do this. |

2 days after my install, im washing my hair and feel this sharp pain. I had a good chunk of a drilled rivet stuck in my head and I literally had to grab and pull it out. didnt feel good! |

I needed a LONG shower to get most of it out. I spent the following weekend at the beach and was still finding shards as I would dip under the water... |

bottom line it was worth it |

Mine is enroute (thanks Luke aka the enabler). It's looking like Saturday will be my install day. Between reading this thread and the instructions pdf'd on the faq, it seems someone as mechanically declined as myself can do it. I got a little ahead of myself this morning.... when warming the car up, I put it in reverse, and pulled the nob off. Gonna be a long couple of days. | Yup, taper the edge. I just took a razor and shaved the front corner a little bit. It ended up looking like something chewed on it, but it went in better. Uhhh, so to speak?
Basically, you turn the square lip from this (front view, not top view):

into this:

(Ignore the periods, this forum deletes any leading space)
Make sense?
Took me about 4 hours by myself in the driveway. If you're going to drill them from the top, make sure you punch the center of the rivet first to keep the drill centered (a phillips screwdriver and a hammer will do if you have nothing else). Mine went a little off center, which made it a real bitch to get the rest of the rivet out. If you're going to drill from the bottom, it sounds like you'll want to wear goggles. I drilled from the top, and I even got a small shaving in my eye as it fell off something underneath when I crawled under.
You'll love the new shifter! Huge difference. Pretty easy mod, with this guide. Do CAGS while you're under there, if you haven't already.
