I didn't want to worry about my wireless dropping out while in my garage. I converted it into pdf... well 3 due to attachment size limitations, and uploaded. I hope this is ok with the OP.

Everything went according to plan. Shifting is much improved and not having that stupid 1st to 4th may be even better then the shifter. Anyway I wanted to thank those responsible for a great write up. I would like to add one suggestion and a few comments to this terrific thread.
1. Step drill the rivets, first with a smaller bit and then the 5/16.
2. Chamfer the bushings as suggested. They're tough enough even with the chamfer.
3. I used a block of wood between the shifter and the drive line both in the removal and installation and it really helped.
One negative was, one of the two supplied metal bushing would not seat correctly due to the bearing not having been pressed in completely. I could not get the linkage to slip over the shifter and bushings so I had to grind down one of the bushings about .035.
Thanks again.

WD40 helps.
Kind of like wrapping them in place.

Is this normal? The first time i tightend it too much and it was super stiff and notchy. Now, i just loosened the bolt a little and it feels good but a little loose. I just want to make sure it's normal. It feels 100 times better now though than crappy stock shifter though.

You get the stock quietness with improved shifting via the new bushings. I called and it's $100 to modify the stock shifter so I'm guessing $150 by the time you ship it both ways and tax. Just type in TPIS on the web - i think they are a sponsor here too. Like I said just my opinion but your saving at least $200. |

Mine is enroute (thanks Luke aka the enabler). It's looking like Saturday will be my install day. Between reading this thread and the instructions pdf'd on the faq, it seems someone as mechanically declined as myself can do it. I got a little ahead of myself this morning.... when warming the car up, I put it in reverse, and pulled the nob off. Gonna be a long couple of days. |

If your looking at work or someplace with a firewall it might be blocking the pictures from showing up... that'd be my guess on why you can't see them.
ahahnu, take a detailed step by step with your camera. There are lots of ways to install this thing... can't hurt to have one more write up on one of the most popular mods for the V
