I'm welded too

Tony, Trukk, and anyone else how has this setup, on Saturday I took my V in to my local dealership because they had to replace the sunroof switch/wiring, while they had it in i told them about the rattle I had on decel, so they put someone in it, threw it on the lift, turned it on, so we could try and figure out where it was coming from. Well the Tech was giving me hell about my catless exhaust and about my rear o2 sensors that "disappeared".. but he agreed that the rattle did not sound normal, for a minute we both thought that the exhaust pipes were hitting that thin little cross plate that lies directly underneath the pipes near the back of the car because there was very little clearance, but that wasn't it...he thought it was NOT coming from the resonators either, i asked if he could take the cans off to find out for sure, but he said he did not want to mess with it unless his service manager agreed that the corsa exhaust was under warranty, apparently any accessory is only covered for 36/36. and of course the service manager wasn't in on Saturday. He also mentioned that he thought it had something to do with the amount of additional flow the headers allow. It has to be something in the cans. I would think that if a z06 vette on Corsa's website with katech headers/cam/head etc can still sound good, they should be able to make ours sound good as well. I would hope Corsa would try to do something to fix this problem as my car sounds currently sounds like a bag of ass and flat out hate driving it right now.... PS we also noticed my rear diff is leaking... so i've got another appointment this week, hopefully the service manager will be willing to take a look at the exhaust, i only spoke with him once before, and he sounded like a prick, we'll see how it goes... i'm going to try and put another call into Corsa this week... |

Quick update, yesterday I got on the phone with Corsa, spoke with a Tech there, not sure if I should give out his name or not, forwarded him the video of the rattle which is totally noticeable. He was very helpful on the phone and eager to help me figure out the problem and fix it. He agreed that the noise was very out of the ordinary. They think it may be the driver's side muffler from past experience? He also said with over 4500 systems like this one shipped there is less than a 1% defect rate. Lucky me! So I just had to track down the original bill of sale showing it was a dealership install. Luckily the service rep at the original dealership was able to pull up info on it from 3 years ago. Whew, sent it in to Corsa this morning and they are shipping me out a new driver's side muffler today. Should get here by the end of the week. I'm swapping it out and hoping it fixes the problem
and just an fyi for anyone else, they said if the catback is welded instead of using the clamps that came with it, it voids the lifetime warranty and you'd have to pay out of pocket.
I'll keep you guys posted, praying that this swap saves my sanity. |

| I find this interesting, as I told them mine was welded to try and eliminate the noise (thinking it was a leak). If this isn't brought up to me until they get my parts back then I'll blow a fuse.

Tony, have you received the resonator, or the magnaflow cans yet? wasn't sure if you had tried any mix and matching yet to try and pinpoint it? |

The Magnaflow cans are sitting in my garage- Corsa said they'd be shipping out the resonator "sometime this week", so I have no idea when I'll get it. |

Magnaflow mufflers are being welded in right now. I'm reusing the Corsa tips because they look awesome, so my final Frankenstein exhaust is Kooks headers, Magnaflow cats, Corsa resonator and plumbing, Magnaflow mufflers and Corsa tips.
Will post sound clips later. |

Thoughts? | That would be way over dramatic.
Your setup will sound very tame.
That's a really nice system you created.
It's the best of 2 different exhausts in one.
I think you will be very happy with it.

The Magnaflows sound great- louder at idle, but quiter under WOT (weird, I know ). The tone is completely different- the Corsas had a very raspy "RAAAAAAAAAAAH", while the Magnaflows are a smoother "FWOOOOOOOOOOOM". There is more drone in 6th gear, but it's tolerable. Corsa's got the market cornered on drone free exhaust, but all the baffles can lead to rattles or clatter as I am proof of. I also like the look of the slim MF canisters over the round Corsas hanging down under the rear bumper.
I'm still at the office, so I'll post clips when I get home. Overall, I'm very pleased. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
