When they advertise performance parts (like intakes), they do a before an after dyno run, then advertise the peak HP gain in their ads. The peak gain could be at 6300 RPM, which you will only see for .1 second before redlining and therefore will have almost NO effect on your acceleration. Advertised HP numbers are always higher than what you really gain, which is why they always use the words "UP TO xxx hp gain" in their ads.
If K&N and Volant only advertise 9-12hp for their intakes, you can count on 4-8 gain MAX. Your brain is hearing the sound and thinking you're faster, plus since you just added a "performance part", you're hitting the gas harder and shifting harder, hence the chirping tires on shifts.

They are selling you something, and it's not just the CAI. I think most stock cars would be LUCKY to see 4 HP, much less the BS 10-15 they tell you from only adding that one part. Let's face it, if we could honestly achieve 10-15 HP at the wheels from a 200.00 part, most owners would jump all over it, that's a cheap upgrade.
I've had my car on the dyno three different times now. The first run is the lowest and the 3rd or 4th run is the highest, every time, without changing a thing. If I do a first run with a stock box and then stick on someone's CAI and do a couple of more runs I could claim a 10HP increase over the stock box too.

I was just going to do only a filter replacement, but when I was able to pick up this Volant used (only 1.5 months) for $100 dollars, I said screw it. Best investment ever! | Did you know that you posted in the cts- V section? Our tires break loose at WOT from stock. We stay thrown back in our seats.
On the plus side we're glad that you came 1 step closer to having a V.
Your next mod should be a LS2. |

There is no way Volant adds 30 hp. It's just not in the cards. I added Volant and Zoomers and I didn't get anywhere near 30rwhp from those 2 mods combined...
And A&As dyno wasn't busted. Volant just adds little, if anything.
Butt dyno Verbs? Come on, you're smarter than that...
