Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Well here it is the final product of the new coilover kit or some wouls call partial coilover due to the rear spring being seperate in any case. I have to say I'm very mpressed with the kit so far it handles great the ride is great I couldn't be happier with the final result. I did take a lot of time to tune it in right but it was all worth it and no "CLUNK". Finally somebody made a kit that works right and doesn't break the bank. I have to say that ome of you may think this spring rate is a little soft for your track liking but for me and everyday street driving they are perfect. I currently have the shocks set all the way to hard and iot rigid but not stiff. I hope this helps some of you out with an affordable alternitive to the other kits out there. I guess I have ground control to thank for my month plus wait on my GC kit or maybe it's Eibach for not getting the springs

Good to hear bro. Are the pics above set at the final ride height? Any rubbing with the softer springs? Car looks great.

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

That stance looks aggressive but nice. For street and looks, I'd go that low. Obviously if I was going to the track, I'd go a little higher .250-.500".

I just recently test drove Pimpcaddy's car with the KW Variant 3 coilovers and KW swaybars. Look for his thread, I did a little review of it.

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Kit is installed, setup, and dialed-in.

I am running K-sport front kit w/their 560lbs springs. And K-sport shocks in the rear, with 550lbs GC springs in the rear. (Sorry, didn’t install the K-sport rear springs, which are 420lbs). I’m running 1” drop front and rear. This is a pic with the GC kit, but it’s identical with the K-sport setup.

Summary:
Love it, very happy with the kit. Works exactly as advertised... lots of height adjustments, good amount of stiffness adjustment, very balanced handling, no weird noises.

Height Adjustments:
You can drop from 0.75" to probably 2.5" (but you'll be rubbing all over the place that low).

Stiffness Adjustments:
The range is not from Lincoln Town Car to Z06 or Porch GT3... It's more like a little softer than FE4 to a little stiffer than FG2. Shocks have 6 full turns of adjustment (1-softest, 7-firmest). 7 is pretty firm, but not harsh… you can easily run 7 all the time, but I don’t see the point… save that for the track. I’m running 4 all around and it’s a little stiffer than the FE4. 3 is very close to FE4. I’d say 5 or 6 is FG2 (having driven WW's car a few times) 7 is definitely stiffer than FG2. I’m going to drive Calicadi’s or WW’s car in the next week… so will compare FG2s to these shocks back-to-back.

Handling:
VERY balanced… I’m very impressed with this car and the shocks… Caddy really has this suspension sorted out, you can go pretty stiff and not screw up the handling. At 4 or 5 you get basically 4-wheel drift…with just a hair of understeer, easily correctable with a little throttle. At 7 you get more understeer, but it’s still manageable with throttle (or run 6F and 7R)

Issues:
* Install is a pain. Not difficult, just tedious. Lots of raising, adjusting, and lowering the car to get everything setup at the right height.
* To adjust rear shock stiffness, you have to remove rear seat (8 bolts, not to bad, but still a pain)
* Can’t use Hotchkiss sway-bar.
* Some rear squat on hard acceleration, I think the FG2 load-leveling helped control this.
* I don’t think you can use Eibach race springs in the front, K-sport would have to change the top mount, and maybe the spring perch.
* Car could use much stiffer shocks for track use.

Answers to previous questions:
* Drag racers: No change in wheel hop
* Luna: No, this kit wont let you use 1st gear... give up that silly notion until you get the mini-tubs and put 315s or 335s in the rear.
* Urb: Yes, you can lower the car 0.75"

...will post install steps / tips in a couple days...

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Agreed!!! Love the Kit but adjusting is no fun at all but what coil over kit is. Once you get it dialed in though. I was going to bring up the squating in the rear. Thanks for mentioning that to all. Good write up should help out alot of people.

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Great feedback Dreamin.

Not being able to use the Hotchkiss sway-bar might be a deal-killer though.

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Luna, don't let that ruin your fun.
With the right springs and shock settings the band-aid solution of increased sway bar stiffness should not be needed.
I resorted to aftermarket sway bars once a very long time ago but, on every car I ever had since then, I retain stock swaybars and tune suspension via adjustable shocks and properly selected spring rates.

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Luna can use 1st gear - he just needs to unstrap the brick from the bottom of his shoe first

Nice write up Dreamin. BTW - if we hook up - don't judge the handling of my V. Something feels a bit strange.....you know.......since the.........acc.......errr..........supercharger install

Are you kidding me? That's the whole problem! I can't mash the pedal in 1st gear! Actually, I substantially can. The 275s in the rear have helped a lot. However, I need to widen the rims, as 8.5" just isn't wide enough for the 275s...at least, in my mind.

In any case, anyone want to purchase a used Hotchkiss bar? I guess if I could sell that as well, I might consider this route.

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Any updates? Since my front FG2's are leaking, I need to put something new up there and am considering one of these sets. Curious to get updated impressions now that you guys have a month of use under your belts.

Anyone taken this setup to the track?
