Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Didn't finish Everything is installed, but I can't drive the car...

The K-sport rear shocks aren't identical to the stock shocks... The lower-mount of the stock shocks have a nut as part of the bracket... the K-sport ones dont... and none were included in the the kit. I think they are metric M14... which Home Depot, Pep Boys, and Autozone dont carry (they only go as big as M12)... so I need to talk to K-sport or find some myslef next week.

And I left my Ground Control 550lbs rear springs in... didn't make sense to go down to the K-sport 420lbs ones.

Good news:
* Everything fits together very well
* The kit looks like it's pretty high-quality
* Lots of adjustments... height wise and shock valveing wise

Bad news:
* Hotchkis front bar will not work with these shocks, they are thicker than the shock shocks... so I had to swap back to stock sway bar in front.
* Have to remove the rear seat to adjust valveing on rear shocks
* Installing the kit takes a lot of time... specifically measuring everything to get the right shock length

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Sorry to hear thaat dreamin. I was hoping to hear how they rode. Hopefully k-sport will square this away a.s.a.p. Thanks for the post, I was about to get the hotchkis, now I'll hold off. Now if Apex would find out about the spring rates. So your keeping the k-sport front springs and using your ground control rears? Isn't the k-sport 460 front?

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

Those shocks look nice
I am concerned however that thay might have less stroke than stock.
It appears the primary shock body and rod might be shorter.
Is this true or just a misinterpretation?

I'd love to hear the differences in ride/performance putting th stiffer spring in back. Hopefully you can get the back end situated.

Optical illusion in that pic... the black piece is a dust seal, it compresses. If you look at my post higher up in this thread, you can see that the total shock length is adjustable.

Total rod length is ~6" F and R. Instructions say to adjust the shock height so 1/3 of rod is in the body, 2/3 out, with car on the ground... so you have 4" of travel, independant of how much the car is lowered!

With stock shocks, the front travel is less than 2" (with 1" lowering)

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

I already informed Ksport of the nut issue...we should have it resolved for the future.... I local member picked up the standard kit last week so hopefully he will post about how the car is witht lesser rear spring rate. Also after talking with Ksport the spring issue is a little more complicated, as the CTS-V springs are taller than the ones he normally carries...this makes them more of a special order item..... I would like if Dreamin and the other member give give the forum some feedback so maybe we can settle on a standard spring rate and then maybe offer a few commonly requested variations

Thank you again!

If one can eliminate wheel hop, I'll give you whatever feedback you want.

I'm confused, does he make his own springs? I know this is a new kit and will probably take time to get the bugs out for the more hardcore guys but how difficult is it to offer stiffer springs?

Re: New Coil Over Kit Released Today!!!!!

He dosen't make his own springs...but the springs that he keeps in stock are of a shorter than the springs needed on the Caddy set-up. This is what is causing the hold up.... We can custom order springs from Eibach........on a piece by piece basis this is time consuming and expensive.....

I like the fact the springs are shorter. What I dont understand is why they would offer them in only one spring rate? I am ready to order cash in hand when this gets fixed. What brand of springs are they running on their set up?
