Shopping for Cam and Heads

Shopping for a set of heads and cam. Does anybody have any comments on which shop is better as far as price and service. Has anybody had any work done from LS1 Speed Inc in Illinois. They have a resonable package deal for the V but I never heard of anyone having this installed. Just looking for some info. Thanks.

Re: Shopping for Cam and Heads

It may be worth the wait from GM Performance Parts' L92 cylinder heads designed for the 5.7 liter LS6. April issue of GM High-Tech Performance, page 10, intel reports that GM hasn't forgotten owners of LS1s.
Suggest you talk to customers of LS1 Speed.

Ok, you need to answer some questions first. What do you want the car to do, what rpm range, how about idle, budget, goals, mods you have now and future mods. Never buy a off the shelf heads and cam package. Get it done to meet you goals. Well if you need some help let me know, we can do it all for you.

thanks
Damian

Talking Re: Shopping for Cam and Heads

Talk to Larry at Speed Inc. He is one of their managers and has a Z06 Vette w/LS6. I know a few customers(non-V owners) of Speed Inc and they are very happy with them. They will custom assemble any package for you to suit your needs. I will visit them when I receive my tax return!!

Re: Shopping for Cam and Heads

Thanks for the advise guys, will do so more research. I'm looking to get around 400-420 RWHP. Idle is not a concern. I would like more bottom end TQ. More of a stoplight to stoplight runner. In the future maybe a 50-75 shot of juice. One more ? is anybody running ET Performance 215cc heads. Are they a good head or not much more difference than the AFR 205's.

Re: Shopping for Cam and Heads

I have read numerous threads/dyno results of the LS6 loving cams with 228/228 on a 114 with a decent lift producing dyno numbers of 425-440hp.
