Find car history and mfg date from VIN number?

I am shopping for a V and I think I found the one I like. I was wondering if there is a way to find manufacture date from the VIN (To see if I can add XM traffic service). The car VIN is 1G6DN56S850227116.

call GM... i know that you could call SVT and find out when your cobra/lightning was built by giving them a VIN

oddly enough my L and i shared a birthday... 19 years apart
