Looks like it still requires getting under the package shelf to access the XM receiver (drat!). I thought it plugs into pigtail on the radio, but no such luck.
Parts included are:
-iPod integration module (small black box)
-Pass-through type pigtail that connects the module to the XM receiver
-Hella long cable to run from the module to the iPod
-Zip ties and velcro to secure everything
There's a set of DIP switches on the side of the module to configure it to which type of GM vehicle you have (the codes are listed in the instructions). According to the instructions, you press and hold Preset 6 on XM to switch from XM to iPod mode, then back again. There's also an AUX IN set of red+white RCA jacks for another audio source which is cool, even though I won't use it.
Pics to follow later.

Now I'm not sure if it'll work at all.

The cable included to connect to the iPod is the big wafer style cable (not a headphone type), so I won't be able to use my iPod shuffle. Looks like I'll be buying a Nano on lunch break. Damn, this is getting expensive....
Looks like my wife just inherited an iPod shuffle, so she'll be happy. |

Hopefully everything will get working and we'll have something else good for the cars.
Points to you for the effort !!

He's checking on the DIP switch settings and calling me back, so it would seem that that hurdle has been cleared. Of course, I'll post them here for anyone else who gets the kit.
Stay tuned for more! |

Tks for the updates, Tony... | class II is just the communication in uses....think USB cable...it can run audio/data/and a whole bunch of other crap through the same lines.
and y'know I gotta tell ya, that box looks awfully similar to the original RM kit. |

I decided against the R&M kit becuase of the splicing involved. I've seen way too many cars come into my shop with logic locked PCMs due to a stereo shop splicing into the wrong wire or grounding something out incorrectly. I like the plug and play nature of this.
Anyhoo, I bought a Nano on lunch break. It's charging, and if I can't sweet talk one of my techs into doing the install while I'm working, I'll do it tonight when I get home.
*Edited to add: According to Roger at SmartPark, the DIP switch settings (not shown in the manual) are:
1-On
2-On
3-On
4-Off
5-On
For those of you who have already ordered the kit*

I looks like SmartPark only sells to Authorized Dealers and not direct to the public. Ordering through a GM parts dept. is probably the way to go. |

No splicing, no cutting, no removing the radio. I'll let everyone know if there's any problems with cutouts or draining. You may consider me stupid, but I choose to stick with something that's been greenlighted by GM as opposed to something completely unaffiliated. | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
