So I bring the V today to a different- better (and much more appreciative of me as a Cadillac owner.) Anyway, I went on a test drive with one of the techs as he drove my car and I showed him how as of late I've had a vibration in my clutch when warm, especially after downshifting from a higher gear and even when softly laying my foot on it. I was given a DTS loaner, assured they would research the problem and was sent on my way. I just recieved a phone call from them and they say that not only is that clutch issue normal, but the issue I have with the clutch going soft over 4k RPMs and the feeling that my shifter is rubbing (metal to metal) is just the way the car is. They said they tested it against another V and that was that. WHAT SHOULD I DO, JAMES SHOULD I JUST TAKE THE DRIVE TO YOU AND HAVE YOU HELP ME ONCE AND FOR ALL??? Comments??? Suggestions??? Thanks in advance guys!!

Is your clutch original, and if so what is the build date on your car?
PM me if you want.

The vibration you feel through the pedal could be pressure plate or release bearing/slave cylinder related...
Clutch going soft above 4,000 RPM's could be a similar issue to a TSB that was issued for 2005 V's which required to replace the clutch and pressure plate based on the build date of the pressure plate...
Shifter rubbing could be a problem with the mounting bushings or the plastic washers at the shifter pivot could be wasted...
Without having one of our guys look at your car I can't say for sure what your issues are but that's what it sounds like to me...
If you are willing to take a road trip we could take a look at it for you... I would want to schedule it well in advance so we can try to get it done the same day so you could drive home... If you decide to bring it down give me a call and I'll schedule it for you...

Holmes, I had the same problem with my clutch, went to Martin Cadillac in Englewood and whaddayuknow, no dice. I wanted to have some other warranty problems sorted out as well and, basically, I'm getting the cold shoulder. Every dealer seemingly plays dumb and then, ultimately, says, "Oh, we don't want to get involved." What? What the fcuk did you say? Can you repeat that for me? I am having numerous warranty issues that are potentially dangerous and further damaging to my vehicle, which is, of course, under full warranty, and y'all don't want to get your prissy hands involved? You incompetent fcuk nuts! Man, this customer disservice is utterly ridiculous.
Anyway, what's the other dealer you went to? |

I'm in the process of gingerly introducing the TSB on the clutch to Brogan Cadillac in Ridgewood. If they don't do anything for me it looks like I will have to take the trip down to Lindsay (not that I wouldn't want to actually take my car to a place where the people that work there know what theyre talking about, but I do believe it's 5 hours each way---) I will update and thank you for the offer James.

P.S. Martin Cadillac are pompus and don't care about they're customers unless you're dropping mad cash on new cars or overpriced repairs (ie: my diff fluid change being $50 more than anyone else on this site has paid!!!) That's fine though they've already lost my business!! |

While on the subject of the clutch, what is the benchmark for having to replace the clutch(mileage). I know this depends on useage; as a daily driver with intermitent spirited driving? | | Cadillac Discussion Tools | | |
