'06 Steering Wheel swap onto '04-'05

Has anyone tried to swap the new '06 steering wheel and turn signal stalk onto an '04 or '05 V yet? If so, what's involved programming wise, or is it even possible?

I'm sure it's possible...you can even add the voice command buttons from the reg cts if you want...but if you swap the 06' wheel.....then you lose cruise control...it's on the turn signal stalk like every other damned gm car out there...which is how ours should have been.

Re: '06 Steering Wheel swap onto '04-'05

I recently bought the turn signal stalk, wiper stalk, horn components, etc, etc, in an auction on ebay for $8. It was the second one I had seen for the same items from the same guy, so I'm sure he'll have more soon. I haven't yet ripped apart the steering column components to see if the connectors are the same on the old and the new stalks. Aside from that, all I need is the new style wheel, or at least the new style cover for the wheel, and of course the ability to reprogram the functionality of the buttons. This is where we may need someone from the dealerships help. Anyone?

I didn't realize the '06 V wheel was any different from the '04-'05's. What changed?

I may be in the minority, but I like my '05's current setup with the cruise on the SW.

^^ I like the cruise there too, and in reality my right hand is usually on the shifter, so either going back to the wheel, or the center stack doesn't make much difference...I like the steering wheel controls in my camaro but the HU is a little farther of a reach than it is in the V.
