Getting Ready to Put V in Hibernation

Remove this ad
I have the luxury of putting my V into the garage for a few months this winter. Beyond the obvious things like filling the tank, washing, vacuuming, Zaino'ing, changing oil (if needed), and covering with good quality cover, what other things do you guys/gals suggest and why?

Good idea to disconnect the battery unless you will be keeping it on a trickle charger.

No, dont start it. It only leads to getting water in the exhaust and eventual rust. Can also lead to water contamination in the oil. Put it on a trickle charger and cover it. Once shes asleep, dont wake her till spring.

Or GA. I can't imagine putting my V up for the winter. I start freakin out when I go more than two days without driving it.

rand49er,
I understand why you are putting your V away for the winter.
I was born and raised in SE Michigan and the best thing you can do is store it.

Having a “salt ride” for Michigan winters is the only way to go.

Don’t despair, you may see the sun again by July ’07.

Re: Getting Ready to Put V in Hibernation

Suggest getting yourself a 6.0L AWD beater.

Clean and dirty; just the way they were meant to be.

Re: Getting Ready to Put V in Hibernation

Yep, mine's going under the Noah cover I was generously given. But it may be waking up mid-winter for a cam/head swap.
