    '79 Malibu?? Cool. I have an '80 Malibu with "about" the same HP. However, I ditched the metric 200 trans and went with a Muncie 4-speed out of a '70 Chevelle. It all bolted right up - factory driveshaft and all. Took all the clutch linkage, steering column and such from a factory 4-speed Malibu. Here is a link to a pic. This car is a lot of fun in that its speed surprises a lot of people.

    How about the 4L80, I think it's a truck tranny. Some of those beast's particularly the turbo diesels have way more torque than the V.
