I just bought a used 2004 CTS-V. It's not certified so I don't get free navigation stuff. It is still under warranty. Based on my VIN the GM site offered to sell me a $200 update which looks like the 2005 disc. Nothing free popped up.
What I don't understand from this thread is -- if the firmware update is an official GM update, why can't I go to a dealer and ask them to do it? Or buy a more recent DVD, find that it doesn't work, then go to a dealer and ask them to upgrade my firmware?
The dealer may or may not flash the nav for you.
It will be included if you registar and buy it from GM.
Heavy - update disc placed in mailbox today
Everything worked fine - thanks
Glad it worked for ya.
Thanks to the people who donated their flash disc.
I should get my flash disk next Tuesday so if you guys need another one let me know.
If you can PM me and address, I can get it in the mail next week. Funny, when I ordered my disk yesterday, they didn't know what version it was they were sending, just that it came out late last year. Strange.
If any of the people who haven't returned the flash disc are reading this, RETURN THE DOGGONE discs!
Other people seem to have no problem using the SASE.
My rant for the evening
Just received the flash disc from HeavyMetals today and it loaded fine. Takes about 15 minutes. All seems to work OK.
Thanks, and yes, the firmware disc is already in the return mail. Sent it before I could have a chance to forget it.
Received the firmware update disc in only two days from heavymetals, across country!
Worked perfectly, just as it was supposed to.
In the mail back to you, heavymetals.
Thanks for the disk Heavy...worked great in the mail tomorrow!!
Got the disc, installed the upgrade, and sent back in the mail. Should be there tomorrow if not today. Thanks Heavy!
Very glad it has worked out so well for members.
The donations of flash discs from other members helped a lot.
If anyone is reading this thread:
If you haven't, please send back the flash CD's.
If anyone has one to donate it is appreciated.
