I might take you up on that if my dealer doesn't do it for me this week.

    Re: Navagation system update (firmware)

Just a reminder that this Nav update is open to ALL CTS/ CTS-V Owners....

Cadillac should be doing this fix for free, and they are not. We, the cadillac community and FAQ/ Forum members are making this possible for all regardless if you are supporting or not.

However, keep in mind that this type of thing is what your donations to cadillacfaq.com help to make happen. A donation to the FAQ if you participate would be nice, but is not necessary.

I am just not clear on what advantage there is to doing this...can someone please explain...I just have the standard nav DVD that came with my 05 V. What is the difference between the standard NAV DVD and the Zenhrin Disk?

The ZENRIN disc is more current.

Cad is typically 1 to 2 years behind

Question Re: Navagation system update (firmware)

I just bought an 06 V a few weeks ago (Traded in my 01 Vette) and am more than happy to become a supporting member on this forum (as I was on the Vette forum)
I haven't found any flaws in the Nav system yet (I haven't used it much) - do I need this fix?

If you bought your 06 new, then no, you don't need this "fix".
You should get a free map update for the next couple of years to.

    Re: Navigation system update (firmware)

I picked up my new 05 two weeks ago. They gave away the originals in another sale and forgot to reorder for the car. I went to the GM site, gave them the update and new map disc part numbers and they ordered them for me on their dime. Got back froma lil 3K break-in trip in the V and they were there waiting when I went by Friday to get my first free oil change. It took about 12 minutes for the update to load.

So, guess you can add another disc to the donor circuit. LMK.

    Re: Navigation system update (firmware)

My 2005 V needed the firmware update. It is an October 2004 built car. Firmware disc arrived, installation was ten minutes max, back in the return envelope. This assistance is what keeps this site special. Extra thanks to Reed and Lynden.

    Re: Navigation system update (firmware)

    Wow... Nice...

Started the car up (it's too damn cold to sit in there without heat!) and threw the disc in and off to the races she went!
    Total time: 11 minutes

Notes: Someone said "Be patient and wait"... wow, that's an understatement... that was the WORST example of a "progress bar" as I have ever seen... it would sit stagnant for 5 minutes (yes, I timed it ) and then FLY to complete... what a joke!

When the updating is done, the disc is spat out automatically. I inserted the 6.5 disc... low and behold, I now live on an actual STREET!!!

    Thanks a MILLION!!!!
