Heavymetals, To what library are you referring? My understanding is that each disc is keyed to a specific VIN and cannot be shared amongst owners. Also, what do you mean by"flash disc". The Nav updates all come on DVDs, do they not? Thanks. Dave Bonacci.

The discs are not personalized or "keyed".

They are for the model of car and are not "shareable" across platforms in the Cadillac world, (thank you GM moron intern engineer/bean counters).

The "library" I am referring to is the one I keep as the depository for donated firmware upgrade discs.

The nav map disc is a dual layer dvd.

The firmware upgrade disc is a CD that cannot be copied (ergo the library).

It is a "use once" disc so some people donate them after using.

    Re: Navigation system update (firmware)

Hmm. In Feb 2009 I purchased a DVD from the GM NaV Center (Part # 15226455) that included both Application (v2.50.0000) and Map Database (v 14.73.7.030308.24). I upgrade both app and Database at that time.

I've had many problems with the Nav system since then, and so the dealer recently replaced the entire radio (under warranty). The new radio had very old software (App v1.04 and DB v8.63.12.022807.19) on it. So I found that I was able to upgrade the software again using the same disc that I had used in Feb 2009.

    Questions:

    1. Is the "firmware upgrade disc" that you refer to a new Application version? Or is that just a software patch to the application? If the latter, how do I know if I need it?

    2. What are the latest App and Database versions? As far as I can tell, they are App v3.03.0100 and DB v14.83.15.050509.24? (I assume the "050509 part means May 5 2009).

    3. Do we know when the next software is due out? It would really stink to buy an upgrade disc if a newer version were coming out 1 month later.

    4. Does anyone else have problems with the Voice Recognition? Mine is virually useless - it never understands what I am saying.

    5. Is the latest App (v3.03) better or faster than older versions? Version 2.50 is painfully slow when entering characters to do a Nav search.

    Thanks in advance.

    Re: Navigation system update (firmware)

HI. I recently purchased a 2004 cts-v with all the bells and whistles. When i bought the car the dealer ordered me the latest disc for the navigation. My radio would freeze and kick the disc out and never worked. So, i took it back to the dealer, and they replaced my radio unit. Now everything works except I have the stuck in Maine problem. I've been reading through the forum and would like to inquire on how to recieve a firmware update disc, (if still available) or whats the part number for that disc so i can keep searching?

E-mail CTS-Vette. He will send you the CD for a deposit and it will fix your problem.

    Re: Navigation system update (firmware)

Are you talking about the new nissan/infiniti navteq 6.9 that was released last month? I see a few people selling for $75. I'll wait till I find it cheaper.

Thanks for the heads up... I hadn't been watching for it lately.
