If you don't get one (flash cd) request one or call them and tell them your new map has you stuck in Michigan and they should send it to ya.

After you use it you can donate the flash to the library...........

    Re: Navigation system update (firmware)

I bought my nav unit out of a wrecked '04 a year ago (I have an '04 CTS). I want to buy the updated map disk, but when I enter my (non-nav) VIN at the GM site, it won't let me order a disk. I don't have the VIN of the car I got the NAV unit from (I bought it on eBay).

I'd like to do both, update the firmware and get a new map disk. Any suggestions?

    Hello,

I just flashed my NAV with the update CD I ordered/received from GM. Now using 2008 Map DVD and it appears to be working fine.

Is this 'library' part of this forum? If so, how do I donate the disc?

Also, is my old MAP DVD (Ver 6.0 Q4 03) of any use to anyone or just chuck it?

    Great job btw!!

Considering I just bought a nav unit and i have no DVD for it at all, I would def take that 6.0 DVD off your hands!

Just bought an '05 V that has the original Nav disc in it (car was built in mid-04). If I buy the 2008 disc from someone other than GM, will I need the flash from you?

    Mike (car arrives next week)

    Most likely you need it.
I think 2/05 was the point where 05's got the update and XM Nav Traffic.

    Re: Navigation system update (firmware)

I got my 2005 V Thursday at midnight (hauler from NJ met me at a parking lot). I took Friday off to detail the car (had to remove the remnants from the NE winter). Got the Florida title, registration and secured my loan.

Today I really gave her the once over, with wash, clay and buffing with Zaino PC. Tomorrow I'll do the interior and give her a couple of coats of Zaino Z2 Pro, followed by Z8.

Updated the firmware (from late 2004) and installed the latest GM nav disc. Life is good!

    Love the car!

Mike (waiting to mod, primarily on the "show" side)

As always Heavy took good care of me. Now lets just hope I dont have to go to Nav Radio 6 and need the flash again! You are doing the V community a great service!

    Re: Navigation system update (firmware)

I've had my V for about a month now, but was unable to post to this forum since I had a Gmail account. I have the original NAV disc, and could probably use an upgrade on my '05. I shot ctsvett an email, so we'll see what happens. Are there any affordable places to pick up an updated/new Map DVD?
