Got a New Dif - CVP33 & Forest Gump Are Right!

Picked up the V at the dealer yesterday with my new dif. Ah-h-h, nice and quiet now. So, I had a bunch of running around to do, and while stopped in a parking lot at one point, I see about an 8" dia puddle under my dif. I pull forward, jump out, drag my finger thru it. Yup, it's dif fluid. But, dif is still quiet.

Had more to do and places to go, I couldn't stop, so later on at another stop, I go to check the rear of the car, and it's soaking wet all over the entire back of the car (bumper, trunk lid, etc) with dif fluid. Cutting to the chase here, I took the car in this morning, they gave me a loaner, replaced a seal in the dif, hand washed the car over and under, and I got it back again in 2-1/2 hours. Yeah, it cost me a little time, but all is well now.

CVP33 is right about dealers: http://www.cadillacforums.com/forums...fe-span-3.html There are good ones and not-so-good ones; you have to find one. And, as much as I like my dealer, Forest Gump was right, too, when he said: "(Sh)it happens." And, it even happens to good dealers.

I bet even Audi has some not-so-good dealers.

While I don't miss blowing rear diff's, I sure do miss shifting my own gears. Ah well, life is full of trade-offs. Glad to hear you've got a good dealer. That my friend is a thing to behold. That's why I take my Chrysler to a Dodge dealership.

Re: Got a New Dif - CVP33 & Forest Gump Are Right!

I had a small leak after I had my 06 dif installed. After talking to the tech about it he was going to change the fluid for me. Since then it started to whine so that sucks (nothing like it did when the whine was horrible). I was at the dealer today but wasn't going to leave it for some more stupid crap. When the diff gets bad they will just replace it again.
These whining diffs are ridiculous.

Also, my car seems awful loose with rattles and such. I guess I should have it checked out.

So Randy, it looks like no more meets until Woodward, we need to maybe start talking about a place and time to meet. Jimmy and I left a couple messages and he wants to get together. Whaddya say?
