I guess my questions are:
Can the Canadian speedo be ordered...and if so, from where?
Is there some way (with a tech 2 I would imagine) to let the computer know that the car now has a canadian speedo on it?
Any possible issues that you guys think I may run into?
Thanks!
This is what a CDN speedo looks like (sorry for the crappy scan)

I do not like the fact that when I am driving 150 km/h (95 mph) that my needle is almost burried though....I also do not like when you pick metric it changes every last reading to metric. I have no idea how many KPA's should be in my tires!! (apparently it is around 210!!) At least the G meter stays the same
I am afraid to ask my local dealer about doing the change over. Gm canada is getting sick of people bringing cars over from the US. The dealers are taking a bath here. As an example...an 05 used V goes for about $50,000 USD in Canada...you guys all know what they go for in the US....Big difference. The more people that bring up cars the more the dealers are sitting on their overpriced inventory.
Anyway, I am hoping that one of the dealer members out there (James?) who might have sold a few up here would be able to help. |

I wonder if we can install a canucks speedo and then switch to the right mileage. (opposite of what your doing) |

It is not a big deal though as the digital speedo is all I seem to use anyway. The V is better than most cars as it has only one set of numbers, so you are not always looking at the smaller set of km/h.
If you have any questions, both Jon and I have imported our v's. What province are you in? |

(F vs. C). | When we switch over to the metric settings in the Nav menu, it allows us to use 0.5 incriments on the climate control. ie: 71 = 21.5 It is the only GM car that I have ever owned that does it....try it out! |

I believe it might be the one written off by some kids during a test drive last year in Richmond. I would be careful. I may be considering selling mine as I have a second baby due in April. My car is Light Platinum with black interior and was imported by me from Washington state from a cartified cadillac dealer. I have all documents including carfax. It is a 1 owner V, 100% stock and has never been abused. I have had warranty work done in Canada so you will not have to worry about GM not honoring the warranty. Also, in B.C., if you buy a car privatly you pay only P.S.T. If you buy from a dealer you pay G.S.T and P.S.T. That will save you almost $3,000 if you buy privatly. If you are interested, I could save you a lot of border and import hassle as I have already brought mine over the border. PM me if you are interested (I thik you may need 50 posts to pm so just email me at stevethorpe45@hotmail.com) |

I imported mine as well. I bought it through my company and used my company import brokers to do the paper work. I flew out and drove it back myself. One thing to be aware of if you buy a new car. GM Canada WILL NOT WARRENTY it until it is 6 months old AND 12,000KM on the clock. That was the only hitch. I could never have afforded to buy one here. I'd do it again.

I was reading a couple threads about your pressure plate and the drive back from ohio, sounds like a blast. I just imported a vehicle from Indianapolis last summer, pretty much drove that same route home. Its still on my mind and I wonder if it gets to other people as well.... just past sioux city when you turn to I90 and get out of town a bit did the signs for that damn drugstore every 5mins for 2-3hrs just drive you nuts? It was in some small town before rapid city, I just remember seeing those signs every ~25-50km and cursing, heh Cuz there's not much else to look at on that stretch of road, its competing with sask.
Oh since I have the attention of a couple V importers (new and used) I just wanted to double check that there are no mods required to pass the federal inspection, all that my last imported car needed was daytime running lights and a child safety seat anchor bolt.
Albertan, about the warranty stuff, any chance that (crosses fingers) something was to go wrong in the first 6mo or 12k km that you could drive down to great falls for service? Or does the US warranty not apply to us because of our residency? Ya its 5hrs from calgary but could save thousands of $$$.
I'd be PM'ing you guys these questions to not clutter the board but being a newbie I cant yet
