Wider stock wheel replicas??

Remove this ad
Since I now have my car Maggied I now feel the need to get wider rear tires. Of course, that also means I need wider rear wheels. I currently have the stock wheels in chrome and I'm pretty content with their look and size as my commute is about 60 miles/day. My question is this - does anyone make the same wheel spoke design but in a wider version? It would be awesome to have the appearance of the same spoke design but with a little deep-dish action. I'd like to be able to squeeze on 275's at a minimum. I would basically be buying just 2 new wheels to run in the rear. I've thought about just getting the 2 rears widened but don't really want to have a couple weeks downtime.

Thanks!!!

Re: Wider stock wheel replicas??

No one makes wider stock replica's.... I even talked to a few replica wheels mfg. companies... no one's interested in making a wheel for the CTS-V... "not enough volume".

Re: Wider stock wheel replicas??

I've been checking Ebay and have yet to see a replica. Hell, there are hardly any wheels for sale that will fit the CTS-V that do not cost an arm + leg.

Re: Wider stock wheel replicas??

Yes, still the case. You can easily put 275's on the rear with the stock wheels. There are companies that widen stock rims also, search some more old threads and you'll find a bunch of info.

Re: Wider stock wheel replicas??

275 tires on a 8.5" rim is a crime.

Re: Wider stock wheel replicas??

Jim, what are your wheels widened to again? 9.25"?

Do you have to run a spacer?

Re: Wider stock wheel replicas??

Not so much a crime for a little better straight line traction on the street. On the track, it's a crime.

Re: Wider stock wheel replicas??

If 275s are a crime, then Im a felon. I have 275s on the stock chrome rims right now, and Im debating putting 295s on them since they dont bulge too bad.

Re: Wider stock wheel replicas??

I don't think the front end weight of the maggie helps either. Correct me if I am wrong but i'm thinking of adding weight in the truck maybe a couple of cases of water or sand bags to even out the weight ratio.

If I were so inclined I would start by relocating the battery to the trunk before adding sand bags.
