Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Has anyone installed custom wheel spacers on their V? If so, where did you get them? I've called a few places and had no success. I'm looking to extend rear wheels additional 11.0 -13.0 mm and frt 0.80mm - 1.0mm.

Any local machine shop can carve you up a set from aluminum. Its a no brainer. 70.3mm ID with a 6 hole 115mm " BC.

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Using ~7 mm spacers on the rear right now. As Lasstss mentioned, they are easy to make.

What is the OD and the diameter of the 6 holes? Sounds like a quick waterjet job.

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

http://www.wheelspacer.com/ These guys make custom spacers... they did Wildwhl's & Lawfive's. So they'll have the specs for the V in their system...

With 11 - 13mm in the rear, you'll need longer wheel studs. The biggest you can safely go w/stock studs is ~0.25 inches.

I've never heard of a 1mm spacer... i'm not sure if anyone will make you one of those.

There is a company that makes 'off-the-shelf' 1/4" spacers (non-hubcentric)... that's where I got some for testing... but i cant remember their name

I thought you had stock wheels

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Novice here........What is the purpose of spacers? Would it cause premature wear of the hub/axle bearings?

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Keeps aftermarket or modded wheels from rubbing against the control arms.

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Thx guys. I will try to find some.

I do have stock rims but want the wheels flush with the body. Especially the rear wheels are reset within the wheel-wells a little to much for my tastes.

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Hi Guys:

I talked with "Fred" at Wheel Spacers.com and he said he's 69 years old and can barely remeber his name. He said I would need to confirm the following:

Hub size dia.
Bolt size
Stock wheel stud size.

The ID 70.3mm is clear but 115mm is to the center of bolt?

thx

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Well...I don't know the answers to those questions.

When Fred made mine he insisted on figuring this stuff out for himself. He also sated that the thinnest he could make them was about .2" (which mine are). So, I don't know the numbers because Fred figured them out for me!

Maybe if he scratches his head a little longer.

He isn't cheap, but the spacers are perfect.

WW

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Grapped the calipers and measured the dimensions of Fred's spacers that I'm running (thanks WW):

Thickness = 5.25 mm
OD = 154.5 mm
Bolt Circle = 115.0 mm
Stud ID = 12.7 mm
Hub ID = 70.6 mm (with 3 mm x 45 degree chamfer)

As Dreamin mentioned - this spacer is about max thickness for stock length studs in the rear. This 5.25 mm spacer will get the desired flush look of the rear wheels.

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Agreed. I nearly stripped (may have stripped) a stud at last tire change when torquing with these spacers in place (yes, I'm lame, I'm running the spacers with the winter tires/wheels too - looks cool IMHO). Careful with the thickness.

detv - why are you wanting to go so far in the back (1/2" or so) and what is the point of the paper shim in the front?

Re: Custom Wheel Spacers for the V

Thanks guys!

Well I made a little miscalcultion with thinkness in rear. I measured the inset of the wheel vs. top of fender and came ~ .5 inch. However, I measured post four wheel alignment. For "some reason" my tech showed me my rear end had major misalignment. Since I never had an alignment before I realized a valet driver either ran over a curb backwards at 40mph, or it was the wheel hop.The main point being the pitch of rear tires have changed and it's less then .5 inch.

As for the sand paper in frt wheels - well I'm just anal.
