For all you non-runflat tire users... an elegant Jack solution... it ain't the cheapest, but it's the easiest and guaranteed to work...
I use a stock wheel and bald RF as a spare. I cleaned it WELL... cuz I figured I'll be heading to a wedding in a tux when I get a flat Insert the tire "upside down":
Factory Jack/Handle/Container in place - use "big factory wingnut" to secure
With the tire upside down, the lid fits fine.
And, there are cut-outs in the fairings for the factory jack!
This is GREAT stuff for those of us contemplating life post-runflat. :bouncy: Wasn't lasstss (or someone) evaluating the use of a CTS spare saver spare, too? I think there was an adaptor to go from 6 to 5 lugs involved but clearance with the caliper was an issue yet-to-be-resolved. :suspense:
This is great information! I have been lugging my floor jack around. I have one Q, is the lug wrench incorporated into the jack handle or do you still need to buy one (I actaully already had a 19mm 4 way, but took it from one of my other cars)?
You'll need the jack handle because my jack from them (ordered it before this thread) didn't have the handle. It isn't the cheapest option but like dreamin said, it is easy and guaranteed to work. It also looks stock.
Dreamin, I'm all set to order but noticed that the nut (#5) is "not needed" but in the instructions it says to hold all in place with "big factory wingnut" . . . is there another part? Thank you again, this was a great find!
No. I was just pointing out to RobzBlkV what item #12 was. When I had a CTS I pulled out the space saver tire and put a full size tire in. Same thing as you are doing with the extra V rim now, except with the base CTS the jack/lugnut wrench were already there. Might even find everything you need if you find a wrecked CTS in a dismantler's yard, rather than ordering the individual parts.
I think I noticed in the 06's that there is a plastic divider piece in the area where the spare goes, almost looked molded in, I sure hope that can be removed.

I said not needed because you should already have that part... it holds the factory plastic divider in place... if you dont have that "big wingnut" (you can see it in my second pic)... then you'll need to order it, it does hold everything down.
thanks, Dreamin; I have it and now I understand . . . no more wingnut questions from me...
