GM releases DEXTRON VI ATF fluid

So your probably asking yourself "why do I care?"

Well, our Manual transmissions use Dextron III and the replacement is Dextron VI. So, if any of you replace your fluid regularily or have a service coming up, make sure you have them put the Dextron VI in the car...

What happened to Dextron IV and V ??

And does it include the tranny "additive"?

IV and V are silicone and not compatible

Dealer just replaced my Trans Fluid today (under warranty TY - Cadillac), I'll have to find out what they used.

Strange change...
There is a known issue with the Mitsu Evo regarding tranny fluid not being synchro-friendly and actually caused tranny failure...premature synchro wear. I wonder if those of us having issues with our trannys are experiencing similar problems.
I'm having resistance about 30% of the time shifting into 1st from neutral, calling for quite a bit of effort to "snick" it in. I won't even bring up reverse....

could be, but I think the more likely reason is that they came out with the 6L80 for the STS-V/Corvette... That is the only tranny that "requires" it so far.

I've been happy with RP Synchromax® so far. I chose it over ATF because it's for transmissions that specify an automatic transmission fluid. Seemed to produce cooler trans temps.
