Note that the tire referenced in the previous post (Goodyear Eagle RS-A in the 245/45/18 size) is a V rated tire that is only good for 149 MPH. The F1's are W rated which is the minimum rating for the tested 163 MPH top speed. Unless you plan to go to a track, you might not need the W rating.

The 2006 Online Order Guide is showing Goodyear Eagle RSA to be standard equipment now and the Eagle as optional (option code QKR)

    Re: All-Season High Performance Run-Flats

Reviews of the RS-As on the Tire Rack web site are mostly negative. These tires don't seem to live up to their "all weather" claims very well. The F1's don't make these kind of claims so people are not disappointed when they don't do well on wet roads. The bottom line is that many people switch to the RS-As hoping to get a tire that performs like the F1 but with a better ride, better wet traction, longer tread life, and lower cost. Apparently the only thing they get for sure is the lower cost.

And to quietly pack a little more profit into the cars in the process. The first few reviews of 2006's with RS/A's may have some interesting observations about how the tires degrade performance....

I just hope the EMT version of the RS-A is a lot better than the one I drove off of my rim on my 2000 STS....

Unless it has been vastly improved, the RS-A has no business on a car like the V.

    NIK,
With over 1000 miles on my tires I can say so far that I like my Dunlop Sport01 DSST (run flat ) tires. I was aware of Tirerack's evaluation before I bought them but I went ahead anyway. The tires are sticky and do very well in rain. They perform well on back roads that I love to drive on ... through turns and twisties. They even have a snow rating but I have yet to try them in snow. My F1s went up a slight hill , through 2" of snow last year to get me to the main street (I have a long driveway) several times. If my Dunlops do as well or better, I'll be happy. The Dunlops are a quieter tire and ride smooth. I think they are called an ultra performance all season tire. They are made in Germany.
If you want to see them or test drive email me.
