    Trunk tie down knobs

I hate these cheap plastic knobs. They don't stay on the threaded stud. They are mostly stripped off. Does anyone have a solution to these things? AM i the only one that has this problem? How do your tie downs work for you? All the years i have been on here and have not seen one complaint of them. At least that i could remember. I may have some made out of aluminum.

    Re: Trunk tie down knobs

I used a heli-coil kit to fix a couple of them so they would stay put. I think it was 6mm-1.0, but it's been a while.

Some of mine quit working, but Luke at Lindsay sold me some replacements so I could perpetuate the frustration.

I dont really use them so I don't really think about them. I know one is loose and I think one might be missing but that is not one of the things I mess with alot!

I would suggesting buying replacements. I don't think mine have ever been messed with by previous owners. The handful of times I've removed them for a new trunk carpet and car audio stuff, they thread off and on very tight. I imagine they go south quickly when someone yanks them off or smashes them back on without actually threading them.

I called a dealer this morning and found out they wanted $15 for each. Crazy! So i called my buddy. Gave him a reversed engineered solid CAD file and got what you see in the pictures. Way better than paying $15 for crap that will fall off again.

Not the only one who has this problem, at least half of mine are useless. I have 3 that still work and it's just enough to keep golf clubs in place when sliding my way to the course. Definitely annoying but not at the top of my list.

    Re: Trunk tie down knobs

I had him make me about 30. Some for my car and my wife's car. If you guys want I can see if he can make more. I don't know about cost though. I would think around 10-12 bucks each. I wasn't expecting any intrest in these. So who in? I'll ask him after I get an idea of how many he should make. Also anyone want close up pics of these? They are not perfect but still look good.

    Re: Trunk tie down knobs

How many of them do we need to replace all of them in the trunk? I can think of 8 maybe. I'll get in on this buy if they can be made at 10 bucks each!
