Umm... That's not so true wits V1's. Limited production car and who knows how many have been totaled(I bet about half). Finding a clean car is getting pretty hard. When I got mine there were only 5 being sold in Texas(private or dealer).

Re: Sold my V...now I haz a sad.

I'm just happy that the car went (I think) to someone that is going to take care of it and enjoy it as much as I did. It's not practical for me to have two toy cars anymore, and as much as I enjoyed the V while I had it, I drive my Sky all summer and it just hurts too much to take the V on trips to countries where gas is over $11/gallon.

Coupled with the fact that I don't know if I'll be in Germany after next summer, and there is no country in the world that the car can be enjoyed the way it is here, it was time to let someone else have a play. I didn't want to end up in a situation where I'm moving off the continent and the car is stuck here and I have to rush to sell it at the last minute.

Maybe the best car I've ever owned...we'll always have good memories together. I do get a sinking feeling that 20/30 years from now I'll see it behind some velvet rope in a museum with a much higher price tag on it...

    Mstrjon,

Man I feel your pain. Had mine for sale for awhile and when I finally got a serious buyer, actually two, I was losing sleep over selling one of the best cars I've ever owned, tied with the 06V I had before the 07V. LOL anyway cancelled the sale and keeping it forever.....now I can sleep.

Oh yeah, here's the new beater:

Paid £2250 for it, and it's only costing me about $900/year to insure, vs. the $2500 I was paying for the V. It won't rip up the track like the V did, but the 2.0 turbo will do 150 on the Autobahn without a struggle, or will get 35+ mpg if you're careful. Sound system could be better, though.

No, I bought the car there and drove it back to Germany. A similar car would have been at least twice the price on the continent. The UK is the land of plenty when it comes to cheap used cars.

It's wearing German plates now but I haven't taken any photos yet.

So how do work that with the right hand drive? Do you convert that or just learn to drive that way?

It's pretty easy to drive RHD. First, and only, time I ever did was at an autocross. Went out and hustled a GTI around. Except for the dashboard feeling like it was 10 feet wide and accidentally hitting the wiper stalk, I kicked butt...

What thebigjimsho said. If you've never done it before it's a little disorienting for a while, but after an hour you're used to it and after a few days you forget that you're even on the other side of the car. I've driven a number of rentals in RHD countries, and two years ago we drove my LHD car around in England for a week, which was enough to convince me that driving an RHD car here would be no big deal.

Nope, I've never driven RHD and I can imagine it's a bit disorienting all right. The worst part I would think is driving in the right hand lane sitting on the curb side, that's what I would find disorienting. Sounds like legality wise there's no problem, I thought it would be.

Weirdly, Germany is a free country. As long as you pass the TÜV, you're on the road.
