What are your mpg's in town/ hwy?

Hey guys I am currently only getting about 12.5mpg in town with my bone stock ls2 powered v. This is with driving it like a grandpa. I had the p0171/p0174 lean codes and have checked over everything and cleaned the mass airflow sensor and the code has gone away but the mileage sucks. Mpg is only about 20 on the interstate. Had the car about 2 months now like the car but think the mileage should be better. Car has 95,000 miles on it.

    Are you using premium gas??

I'm getting the same mpg as rlamas and I don't drive like a grandpa at all.

Driving to work I get about 9 mpg. On the highway, if I'm really careful I can get over 20, but I'm never careful, so I get about 15-16. On the track I get 4-6.

I have been getting 9-10 mpg driving to and from the train which is what I expected. On the highway the best I have gotten is 20 mpg with normal driving. Was kinda of hoping for better.

I use regular gas so I wonder if that has anything to do with it.

Most likely the regular gas is causing the engine to pull timing and isn't burning as efficiently as it could.
You are saving 10% by getting regular instead of premium, but you appear to be losing ~20% of your mileage.

Lol buys a car with an LS6 and runs regular. I got on a friend of mine one time for running regular in his Cobalt SS Turbo. Part of the cost of owning a high performance vehicle is fuel cost. If you can't afford to put the correct fuel in, get a different car. My dad did it in his vette for a while and I shamed him out of it.

I average about 15 combined. I have a 6 mile highway commute, so it's basically warm car up, floor it to get on the highway then exit and drive the last mile to work. In the lights.

I thought the manual called for regular. Now I see it recommends premium. I was start using premium and see what happens.

with these things apparently running lean...and then using regular gas...i'm surprised you never had any spark knock occuring

for me...05 LS6, running 93octane....i get 15-16mpg to/from work (~15 miles..mostly doing ~60mph, but a few miles of stop/go traffic)....on the highway, cruising at 80....i usually get 20-24 depending on what part of the state I'm in

I'm at about 12 combined over 900 miles. Two track days (150 miles?), 200(?) miles freeway, the rest city.

Tried babying it for a little bit, then slapped the shit out of myself and dug back in.

I usually get 13-14 with mixed driving. I have gotten a best of 25 on the highwway then I realize its no fun, and mileage goes down to 19-20.

I am the same as rlamas. I have a 17 mile commute of which the last 1/3 is stop and go traffic on the freeway. The other 2/3 is running at 75/80 mph. I have run both regular and premium and I do get alittle better with the good stuff. I also got the lean codes but the check engine light comes on and off by itself running both grades of fuel...don't know what that means... I drive between spirited and average (except on fire calls....then it balls out).
