    Oil temp at startup

Hi everyone. New guy here to the forum driving my first V, a 2004. Veteran of the LS scene though with a 2003 Z06 in my past and a Porsche 944 with an LS1 swap in progress.

Anyway, noticed something odd this morning. Upon start up my oil temp read -7 degrees. The ambient temp outside this morning was 38 degrees. Sooooo, yeah. Something I'm missing?

Many other questions to come, but I'll post those in an appropriate thread.

Yeah, I'm still not sure what's up. I read the sticky about the oil issues, but i'm unclear as to how fixing the ground issue would cause this issue. Was Cadillac updated the PCM to adjust for this? If so, then how do you know if your oil temp is truly too high?

    Re: Oil temp at startup

Well, looks like I'm going to try replacing the oil temp sender. I've searched every forum, talked to a few dealerships and no one seems to have any idea what would cause the oil temp to be readying 20-30 degrees cooler than it should. At full operating temp I'm showing 180. Which I know is too low for an LS6. I had a Z06 once and it ran 200+ quite freuently. Voodoo, I'll let you know what I come up with.

oil temperature ideally should run just above 212F this ensure any water in the system is boiled out
