I am getting the MorePerformance Corsa/Cold Air package with a PCM tune and want to get some recommendations on things I should ask MP to change while they are programming. I am sure they will have their own suggestions...but I would like to hear from the group. (FYI - I will post dyno chart with before/after runs).
So lets here them...
1.) eliminate CAGS
2.) raise rev limiter to? 6500? 6700? ____?
3.) raise top speed to? (I see there is a thread just on this)
4.) can DRL's be turned off in PCM?
5.) what else???
Thanks

DRLs cannot be turned off, they have another controller.
Search for threads about DTE for their various stage tunes, for ideas.
Remember, your '05 must be tuned with LS2-Edit, or EFI-Live, not LS1-Edit, and some places don't have the new version in yet MP should, though. |

2005 Platinum V | I'm new to the GM tuning so bear with me. Do you get a hand held programer to install the tune that you get from these guys. I'd like to do the same Corsa/cold air mod and might even wanna try a small shot of nitrous but I'm not sure how to go about a tune for either or both. Can anyone help educate me. |

I am aware of basically 4 options for PCM tune...
1.) Handheld Tuner (superchips, predator, etc.) - lets you switch between OEM program and the modified program in the unit - $400
2.) Mail order PCM TUne (DTE, etc.) - send them the PCM and they will reprogram with their DYNO tested tune for your mods. - $300 (No Handheld...PCM must go back to tuner to get changes)
3.) Laptop Software Tune (EFI-Live, LS2-edit, HPTune) you can change all the PCM parameters from your own laptop - $735 to $1000?
4.) Professional Custom Tune (DTE, MorePerformance) - $500 Done to your car on the dyno to dial in your specific vehicle. (No Handheld...car must go back to tuner to get changes)
...following urbanski's advice to...I have searched on DTE....I see
- CAGS deleted electronically
- Quicker wide open throttle activation (How?...via TPS adjustment?)
- Reduced engine operating temperature range from O.E. Now 195*-205* (O.E. 215*-233*) How?...is thermostat programable?
- No A/C drag when WOT is selected and A/C is on (via A/C cut out at __RPMS?)
- No speed limiter |

Shifting at 6100 rpm, engagement of the next gear is 4200 rpm and ~240 RWHP.
Shifting at 6500 rpm, engagement of the next gear is 4600 rpm and ~280 RWHP.
Shifting at 6800 rpms, engagement of the next gear is 4900 rpm and ~300 RWHP.
Isn't the most desireable strategy to equally straddle the peak of the horsepower curve? If so, 6800 is the sweet spot. |

Since this was nagging the crap out of the engineer in me, I calculated the V's acceleration force and resultant optimal shift points using the torque curve from my car.
As an experiement - send me your PCM; I'll bump the rev limiter up to 7200. Shift at the calculated rpms next time you're at the track and show us the time slip. Acceleration Force

Valve spring longevity? Well...that is a down side. |
