    Cabin filters

What is good to use? I have actually never changed one in my car in the years iv owned it. Is there a difference between Charcoal and the ones that say Particulate? Just seeing what people are using.

    Thanks for any info.

    Re: Cabin filters

Charcoal generally is to help absorb smell while particulate is just dust and debris in the air.

I been using the AC Delco filter, change it once a year and it usually dirty. I bought a NAPA at local parts store and it seemed like half the fitler I was replacing so I returned it and went to AC Delco store, CF133 in the ac delco # on the old box in the garage..

    CF133 fits; (applications)

I buy the TYC charcoal filter:

TYC 800058C Cadillac Replacement Cabin Air Filter
    http://www.amazon.com/TYC-800058C-Ca...bin+Air+Filter

It was $16.98 on amazon when I bought it. It looks like it went up a buck.

It works great and masks pretty much any smell on the outside of the car as long as you have the windows up. I don't get any dust inside the cabin if I'm running solely off the HVAC unit. The TYC I mentioned above has both particulate and charcoal. I would recommend that.

    Re: Cabin filters

FYI, I went to install my TYC air filter that I bought on Amazon, and it didn't fit. Walked back to the bench, looked at the part number on the box and it was different from what I ordered. Double check your part number if you bought one recently. Good news was, the filter I tried to replace was pretty new, so I've got some time anyway.

Wow, I'm happy I found this thread. I just grabbed the Delco from the local parts store that generally has great prices. $30+ for the OEM part. I've ordered the TYC part and will be returning the other.

    Re: Cabin filters

Installed them this last weekend. They are great. Had to take the battery out and a few bolts so i could get my hands in to remove and install it.

    Re: Cabin filters

Weird, I just removed the cowl trim, popped the filter cover off, and pulled it right out. Had to bend/contort the new filter a small amount to get it in the first half, but nothing that led me to to need the battery our of the way.

    Re: Cabin filters

I need to replace mine - I've had the new filter sitting in the house for a couple months now.

This is the only one of my three cars that has a cabin air filter. Despite my using the charcoal type filter, the V picks up way more smells from surrounding traffic than my other two cars. Even if I put the HVAC on recirc, if I'm following a diesel, I can always smell it. I don't know if there's something broken or what, but it's been that way as long as I've owned the car.

    Re: Cabin filters

Yea i tried but maybe my hands are bigger. I did it to both of the cars this weekend and both were the same. I even have a smaller battery in the blk car.

AAIIIC mine were doing the same in relation to smells. SO far i haven't smelled anything in the car as in fumes.
