Re: Caddy support

I must have missed a previous thread on this unless this was from the group send of the letters to GM a couple months ago. Did you contact GM support independently and they got back to you? I want in on this 100K warranty on the drivetrain & ass end.

It was a letter I wrote based on the fourm info when we were all on the wagon about the diff issue.

Re: Caddy support

I got a call too...but I didn't write a letter; I posted a note on that GM blog site that there was a thread on a couple of months ago. I got the call within 2 weeks of posting, and got the warranty "letter" a few weeks later.

Re: Caddy support

They will give you a lifetime warranty, but wait until you need that second new rear put in and they tell you that you must have abused it so they will not warrant it. Even if they didn't give me a hard time and told me abusing it was ok, who the hell wants to break a rear every time you get the car to hook at the track? Caddy should develop a new MUCH stronger rear, and replace them as they need to.

I found Caddy customer service to be a joke. They are just a paid company told to go by the book that do not even work for GM. I had a problem I posted about where a Caddy Dealer in Torrington, Ct replaced my rear and did the fornt A-arm spacer/washer under recall and somehow all 4 tires were out of alignment, the rear was WAY out. It ate through my rear tires (to the chord) in less than 1k miles with the usual meat on one side, and chord on the other. The dealer said that GM does not require an alignment for those and told me my tires were bald when I brought them in. Seeing how I could not spin my tires at all w/ the wheelhop they had AT LEAST as much tread at the fronts (which are still on my car 4k miles later) .After at least 10 very heated calls to Caddy customer service I got absolutely no where. They told me it was a dealer issue, but at the same time would not say the dealership did something wrong. I asked for a rep to call me and Caddy customer service made the request. I called back a week later and they said the Rep denied my invitation to speak with me. All of this from a customer who in the last 3 years bough a WS6 TA, an 03 Vette, a $45k Silverado, and a $52k CTSV. I'm planning on speaking to my local Rep at the NY auto show to discuss my problems in front of a group of people.

Re: Caddy support

GNScott, maybe you are right but the extra warranty was free and with no obligation nor waiver, so why not? Also here in the DC metro area we are lucky to have at least one dealer with an awesome service manager and awesome service department. I have no reason to beleive that I will have the troubles you mentioned. And if I do have such problems after the 4yr/50K warranty is up, the extra warranty gives us basis for a warranty claim.
Also....I didn't think that any V owners were getting denied new diffs with the exception perhaps of WildWhl(?) who's diff got toasted in a crash? (Forgive me, Wild, if that is an incorrect statement). Maybe "noisy" diffs are subject to some interpretation, but I thought that all the broken diffs were getting repaired with no questions asked. If that is wrong then my information is out of date.

Yes the diffs should be more robust but they aren't. I'll take a free warranty any day. It also runs with the car so when I go to sell the car and the prospective buyer says "I heard about differential problems," I can hand them the added warranty.

Yeah, it does sound like you got a raw deal with your alignment, and I would be irritated, too......

Re: Caddy support

I don't know that anyone has broken the 2nd. I know if I bring it in for a new one again this year , that I will have to fight for it. Caddy is still GM, and that is the way GM works. Some guys are having a hard time getting their 1st one replaced.

Re: Caddy support

I already have a 6/100,000 mile extended warranty. If Cadillac offered me a warranty for the dif, I will be asking for some money back or free rear dif fluid changes.
