On the 3.42 gears, I'd put the V in for the win. On the 3.73s, you're going to have a hard time, IMO. Stock for stock, its a better race then people think... with the V actually having an upper hand depending on roll speed. From a dig, if the 5.0 hooks... you're dead meat.

Stock for stock our V's will kill the old 5.0, you're talking a low 13 second car making 330 at the wheels vs a mid 14 second car making 200. Even with drag radials or slicks it won't be close, and from a roll it just gets worse.

The new 5.0 though will walk away from us at the strip and from a roll.

My '06 walks them all day. but an 04-05 might be a little less easy. Done 45 rolls with them alot. Just did a 35 roll with a new SS camero there and it straight walked me all day. Hoping he had work done...

For one, you aren't much faster then an '04-'05 it's essentially insignificant. For two, the old 5.0 or the new 5.0? There's no reason at all you should walk the new one. Stock for stock they dyno 40hp more then the V's and weigh less.

I was originally talking about the new 5.0s... if you are talking about the old LX 5.0s... The foxbody ones... if its not build correctly, its going to have a bad time. I know alot of foxes with alphabet cams and crap setups.

I agree, difference between LS6 and 2 is minimal, but stock 5.0s on 3.42 gears seem to be slower then the 3.73s. The gears play a big role in the new 5.0. I've seen Vs run 5.0s down on the roll, but from a dig... I think the Vs toast.

A stock 5.0 vs a healthy V... One making at least 350whp is a very good race. My buddy has a stock 5.0 and I can usually beat him from a roll but from a dig, he always pulls...

I got so upset last night after a friend of mine stated his 99(stock 4.6) mustang would destroy my V. So I put a $100 bill on the table and the excuses started flowing. It's kind of a joke since I beat this same rustang in my old pickup truck...
