Retaining DIC with aftermarket head unit

Quick question on this - I've searched extensively and found where it is quite possible to do this with a donor head unit from a stock CTS, but all of the write ups, guides, etc. are always on a base model CTS. My question is does this also work for the CTS-V? It seems logical that that all of the DIC functions that would normally be hooked up to the stock nav unit would also work through the amber LED display but I want to be sure before I start buying parts.

    Thanks for the input!

You need the non-V/nav radio and have it reprogrammed to accept your VIN if you're going with aftermarket to replace the V unit and retain DIC as well as personalization options.

AFAIK they plug in the same so there's no compatibility issue as non-Vs also had the nav option

You are gonna lose the communication for the driving functions through the OEM radio controlled by the steering wheel switches.
