First time down the track in a V (ver. Wheel hop OMG)

So first ill start by saying I've taken many cars down the track, and a fair share of standards and autos, live axles and IRS, full drag to stock and in all my time I have never had such a bad bout of wheel hop!

Makes me really respect some of the times I've seen here. I launched a few different ways: staging and rolling out, stabbing it, goin at a set rpm and walking it, none of that helped cure the wheel hop, best run I could muster involved me raping the clutch just riding it out. Started the day at a 2.49 60 ft(eek) and got it down to 2.1(still horrible) if it wasn't my gals daily I would have taken another shot and worked it harder but between the wheel hop and the smell of clutch after that run I thought it was best to come back and try again some other time (I.e. when she wasn't there watching. Lol)

On dunlop 245/18s traction was laughable and the stock clutch fought me some but the mph is very strong for the mods:
V3 cam, b&b exhaust & long tubes, lpe CAI, coil overs and sways

With a solid short time she has mid 12's in her... So who wants to tell me what else I can do to get the ole girl off the line without exploding pieces (I know wheel hop axles girdle all that) I'm talking technique.

    Appreciate the input!

95A Revshift bushings in the subframe, trailing arms, control arms, and differential.
80A Revshift transmission insert and motor mounts.
    Revshift and Revshift like this.

Glad to see you out having fun with the V. From what I've seen, those are pretty respectable numbers for a CTS-V.

How much have you read on here about wheel hop and the differential failures that it has caused? If you plan on taking the V back to the drag strip without at least partially addressing the wheel hop first you should have $1700 set aside for a new diff.

Replace trailing arm and control arm bushings, stiffer rear sway bar, solid mount the rear cradle

You're not going to get much faster. It's not your technique--it's the car.

You will find the car is not very good for rock climbing either. The silly thing just wants to go fast around road courses.
