Ready to go aftermarket nav unit

Like many, I to the point I'd rather have great sound/nav vs. retain DIC functions.
After researching prior posts, I was wondering if the check engine light still would come on if any code were thrown? Just making sure its not just in the stock radio.
Other than that- I've about talked myself into taking the plunge!

Start with these two threads. I went the parrot route but the second route is looking viable also.

Thanks for the links! I like the parrot, but it doesn't look like it has direct satellite radio integration, otherwise I'd be all over it. I'll likely go pioneer, eclipse or kenwood.

I wanted an android os. Gives you more flexibility. I can play pandora or spotify directly from the head unit. I don't have to use a phone to Bluetooth it in like the Pioneer plus I have tons of navigation options rather than just one. You can side load any android app including the torque app.

My XM subscription has internet feed also. The parrot has an internet browser so I think if you use your phone as a hotspot or connect a usb modem you could just log onto XM radio through the internet.
