I like it, curious to see what the price point will be. That said I don't understand how they are only getting 415 hp on an LS3? Must be a really mild CAM & Tune.

that car was not at the Detroit auto show. the car wasn't unveiled until last week.

The only thing close in Detroit was the cop version, which does not look the same and has a different drivetrain.

Either way, I think it's sharp. Nice mix of understated/aggressive. Where my situation would dictate a roomier car that's not as ostentatious as my V2, this SS would've been GREAT if it only had a manual...

by the 'cop version' do you mean the Caprice PPV?
i don't think there's a police version of the SS in the works

that would also make sense as to why it didn't look the same and had a different drivetrain

Yes, the PPV. They are very similar cars - they both ride on the Zeta platform.

i'm an auto journalist, so if the SS had been in Detroit, I would have been all over it.

No manaul trans sucks but as already posted most V2's are automatics anyway. At least its a RWD LS powered car that looks good.

always liked monaro (GTO) and commodore (G8). it might be a consideration if it has a manual. the G8 was in my shortlist prior to the V1.

What cars is that supposed to compete with? Looks a bit plain but if the price is right could be a nice daily. Don't really see it being a big success for GM but who knows.

That Buick isn't bad looking for a daily, not a huge fan of the grille though.

Re: Chevrolet's new SS what do you think/know so far?

Just saw a chevrolet commerical featuring the SS, Stingray, and the volt. Gotta say it looked pretty good, much better than the pics I saw online. I might still be partial to the G8 and I'm not entirely sure why it wasn't simply transferred over to chevy from pontiac as I think it was a seller. Like others have said I could see a MT option coming out in its second year, perhaps with a lowered stance as well. Either way can't go wrong with another offering of a LS based vehicle.

    Sharp looking ride....

The a$$ end has nice angles....has a nice clean BMW look to it (i.e. rear lights)....

Who knows...if it ain't a seller in the states...it may take off in Europe. Look what happened w/David Hasselhof....

I'm still hoping they decide to use a manual...
