Good luck. It's either expensive or illegal.

Try stopping by your cadillac parts departments. They might let you do it with their CD (if they even know what you are talking about)

If you find a way - let me know.

I hear of a re-flash CD you need. Apparently there are some guys on here who'll "loan" them with a deposit. From there apparently Inifiniti/Nissan uses the same navigation company/software. You then just get one of their map CD's o update. We'll see...

The Nissan firmware update will not work.

The map will, but no XM-RADIO traffic support (BFD).

Thanks for the reply Heavy. You seem to be the guru on the subject. What would be a good viable firmware update, if any?

Re: Looking for easiest way to update the firmware in my '05 CTS-V nav...

There is only the one Cadillac firmware update for the CTS (V).

You can pm me about getting the disc, but since you are in Virginia I suggest you contact Luke @ Lindsay and he might be able to help.

The firmware update corrects a "bug" that does not allow newer MAP discs to work properly, the firmware update is not a map disc.

I actually just spoke to Luke earlier today. Something told me I should of asked then. So, after the firmware update, what type of map update disc would you suggest? Thanks again.

This doesn't change the operation of the nav, it is an updated map disc.

Re: Looking for easiest way to update the firmware in my '05 CTS-V nav...

Just going through this myself. The customer service I have received on this at my nearest Caddy Dealer has been nothing short of atrocious. Booked my 2004 in to get this done only for them to say they don't have a disc and I need to get one. Tried to explain that it is not a Nav disc but a firmware update disc. They were adamant that they do not deal with GMnavdisk and they would "look into it". 2 weeks later and not so much as a phone call.

I finally got a hold of the actual GM Bulletin that deals with this issue, brought it the Caddy Dealer, showed it to them and..... nothing. We had a little discussion and I brought up the point that even Nissan/Infiniti sends out updates with each Map disc.

The reply? "We are not Infiniti."

That at least we can agree on. "Standard of the World" my a$$. Maybe Third world.

Brought the bulletin to my local GM corner store dealer and guess what? Disc on order.

For those of you needing a little extra info, I have a .pdf copy of the actual GM Bulletin if someone can instruct me how to upload a .pdf file I would be happy to share it.

    Cheers,

    E
