Quick update. Disc arrived as promised. When I arrived for my service appointment, the service manager says..." this is just a CD right?" I say "yup" He disappears for a minute, comes back from the parts counter with CD in hand, walks with me to my V in the parking lot, pops in the disc and 7 minutes later, CD ejects itself. Update done. He says, "have a nice day" No charge. Local GM Truck dealer putting Caddy customer service to shame.

    Cheers

    Eric,

I can't seem to PM you. I would love to get a copy of the GM bulletin. Can you either fax it to 847 455 6116 attn Scott, or email it to
    stamper (at) tromfg (dot) com?

    Thanks,

    Scott

Bulletin e-mailed. As per the wording on the second page, the dealer can order the disc free of charge and the labour cost for service is a .3.

    Cheers

Just wanted to say thanks to Heavy for his help on this matter. He's prompt and was helpful in answering questions. I now have updated maps for my 2006.

For those who may be unsure, he's the real deal. Thanks Heavy

Gentlemen, I need this update! I'll call my dealer today but if they give me the runaround I may need someone to email me that service bulletin. Thanks ahead of time.

    ----------

Just as I suspected; the service department at my local dealership had no idea what I was talking about. Can someone email me the service bulletin? My email is

    sandiegobrocal@yahoo.com

    Thanks

Allright kids. I think I figured this out. Here is the link for the Bulletin. Pretty much Black and White. Don't let the Dealership jerk ya around.

I live in Knoxville, TN and have a new Firmware Disc if anyone still needs to use one. Let me know if you're in this area and we can get it installed.

So does this firmware update make the system actually work, or is it still awful?

From what I understand Functionality remains the same (Crappy). The firmware just allows you to install some newer updated maps (separate disc).

You are correct. This firmware update is required if you want to use newer (updated) maps/map DVD. And don't buy the Cadillac updated disc...look instead for the Navteq map DVD for a 2005 Nissan Maxima. The current version (6.11) with the 2013 maps works like a champ in my 04 CTS-V.

    That version will not work.
