CTS-V Center Speaker in Dash Replacement

Hey everyone...please forgive me if this has been answered, but I've searched and can't find exactly what I'm looking for....

My '06 V has blown the center speaker in the dash. I gather that I can remove that front panel of the dash to get to it, but would like further instructions on how to pull it out (the dash panel and the speaker). I checked the "2004-V Front Dash Vent cracked" thread but couldn't find the attachment that may have the instructions. Anyone able to help?

    Thanks!!

A flat bladed tool is all you need to remove the dash piece, the speaker however, is bose specific and I would leave it out if possible.

Ok, great...thanks for the help. Will probably just disconnect the speaker then...I've caught on that this whole audio system is proprietary stuff.

    Thanks for the response.

Also, be very careful with the dash piece. They become very brittle with the sun.

Darkman, thank you for the attachments, that's exactly what I'm looking for. Already found the Bose replacement part.

    Appreciate everyone's help.

I was able to find the direct replacement speaker and finally had some time to install it. Thanks for everyone's help. Only took me about 15 minutes to do. If anyone needs it, the replacement part # is 25684670. I was able to find it on Amazon for only $44, other places had it in the $80 range.

If I wanted to replace that speaker with something better, do you have any information regarding its size and impedance?

I'm sorry, I don't. I'm not an expert in this area... I believe the size is a 3 1/2". But maybe with that part number, you might be able to find out more information on it. Based on what I read on some other posts, you do need to be careful as apparently this system is fairly particular about what speakers you hook up to it.

There are two aluminum dash braces on either side of the speaker that really prevent you from going larger. If I remember correctly depth is pretty limited as well. I thought it was smaller than 3.5" but could be mistaken. If you want to upgrade I would consider a flat planar driver. However to get the low freq response up you will likely have to go pretty large. With the width of the panel this will require you to orient the large side parallel to the front seats which will narrow hi freq dispersion.
