I agree - wasn't this touted as the world's fastest production sedan at the time in 2004? That's why people spent $50K on them ... to have the world's fastest sedan and it was an American car, not a BMW/Mercedes.

    Re: Would I insult someone?

My 3 year old daughter had a hard time coming to grips with the fact the NAV wasn't touch screen. She would always say "Dad, it's broken" lolz

Plus, no mp3 reading is pretty Caveman.

Those are two very slight "oversights" compared to the rest of the car.

    Re: Would I insult someone?

Picked up my completely stock 07 about 6 months ago with 13K miles and got it for $26.5K. I think it is a great deal so long as the car is in great shape(sounds like it is!). I knew I had an 18 hour drive home (Kansas City, MI to NC) so I convinced the guy to take it in to his local Cadillac dealership to have it thoroughly inspected on my dime. I think it was well worth the money to have it checked out, well worth the plane fare and long drive home, and well worth the payments I am now making!

Remember that patience is a virtue! I almost paid the same price for a car with twice the mileage, and by the time I picked up my V I had spent roughly 8 months looking with the intention to buy as soon as I found her. Good luck man, let us know if he accepts your offer!

Pirate - Black 07 in Raleigh ... I'm in Raleigh too - You don't by chance have a personalized plate that says "DRKNSEXY" do you? I've seen this car once a couple of months ago and a couple of V2, but rarely see any of the V1s in the area.

    FWIW, I paid $25,090 for my '06 V with 30K miles...that was 2 years ago...

But, I am glad to see that I could turn around and basically sell it for what I paid for it.

In 2004 it was a standout I'm sure. Today there are/were better cars for $26k. The G8 GXP comes to mind (yea discontinued) and the japanese sport sedans are damn near as quick and better interiors, fuel economy, and cheaper parts and you can find 2010 used ones for $26k with warranty... G37 for example. 1/4 mile in 13.5 @105, not far off a V1 pace.

    Re: Would I insult someone?

I think I paid $28k give or take for my 07 with 28K on it 2.5 years ago. Not certain but I think the guy was asking $30.5k . So you're in the ballpark with that offer.

    Re: Would I insult someone?

In 2004, the CTS-V was an amazing car. $50k was probably a little overpriced, but nobody was paying that for long. People were getting 06 and 07 brand new in the upper 40s. Many were getting them for $45k.

They weren't the 'worlds fastest sedans' back then, but they did put Cadillac on the map because they were damn near on par in performance with Audi's RS4, which was much more expensive and the BMWs of that year as well.

They didn't get the 'worlds fastest sedan' title until 2009ish.

Thank you! Wasn't sure if it was just 2009 or if they held the title previously too.

It probably held the Best Bang for the Buck title.

In 2004 as an entry level luxury sedan, I'm pretty sure it did.

You seem to be back-pedaling. You said you can't believe anyone paid $50k back in the day, and that these cars aren't that nice. Now they were standout?

Should someone faced with the $50k sticker in 2003-2004 have said "I'll just wait 5 years until Pontiac releases a limited production G8 GXP, and buy that instead". There also hasn't been a point in time I'm aware of where you could buy a G8 GXP (on average) for the same or less than you could buy a 1st gen CTS-V (on average). The GXP was more than a V1 at any given time that the GXP existed.

If a G37 sedan does what you "need", and would buy a V1 for, you are right, the G37 makes more sense. They are cheaper and newer. I personally don't think those cars are in the same ballpark at all.
