    Ready to buy a V

I'm in San Diego and am trying to buy a V. There is only one CTS V in San Diego and one of the members on here pulled up a CarFax report showing that it has frame damage (and they're still asking $21,800). So, I've been looking mostly in the LA area. There is one that I really like in Reseda. It's a 2006 with approx 80,000miles on it. It's very nice but they are asking $20,750 (which isn't too bad but not that great) and they don't really want to move much on that price. That, and they told me they would give me $1,000 for my trade-in (2001 Acura TL with high miles). I also found a very nice 2005 with 69k in Moreno Valley that they want $17,900 for. Seems like a pretty nice car but I want to make sure the diff is ok and what not. I've also been wondering about those with the higher miles. From what I've read on here, with the proper care they should be reliable for the long run. I guess I'm just starting this thread to get some support and possibly meet some other V owners. Hope I'm within the guidelines and whatnot.

Not really. I've chimed in on a couple other peoples threads but figured I'd start my own so I don't hijack their threads with my questions/concerns.

Good luck on your car hunt, joshuajohn1981! If you were to ever send us the last 8 of a VIN on a car you're looking into, we can provide warranty and build information for you (we would not be able to advise on any work done to the vehicle previously).

Thank you Katie. I actually have a VIN I would like a response on. Should I email it to you (your address?) or post it in here?

    That '05 sounds promising.

These cars will go wa-a-y past 100k miles with anything resembling normal maintenance. At 69k, that's a candidate, IMHO.

Thanks Rand, I think so too. I'm working on getting my financing together this week and hopefully I'll be in that car or one similar over the next couple weeks.

I do, however, want to see a car fax on the vehicle. I plan on purchasing the car fax unless there's anyone out there that has unlimited reports??? Let me know. Thanks

I've got an 05 for sale that has a clean carfax. If you want to come check it out, I live near Lancaster/Palmdale.

Ciaccio, thanks again. Carfax looks good. A little weird that it's had 5 owners though. The guy said its on it's 3rd diff but that this one is the newer diff so that's a good thing. I'll have to verify when I go look at it.
Any idea why the differential work doesn't show up on the car fax report though?

Re: Ready to buy a V

The owners are just a guess by Carfax, dealers changing hands can throw it off. Not all dealers report into carfax could explain the diff not being noted. Someone put the diff serial codes on here to check which one it is.
