    Differentials and half-shafts

    Has anybody with upgraded half-shafts (e.g. Gforce) had any problems with their differentials?

    The diff is obviously not known for its durability, but I'm wondering if the wheel hop in and of itself is the cause of grenading diffs; once you take away the wheel hop, can you start hooning worry-free?

    I can't speak from experience, but I don't think anything will stop a determined diff from exploding. Pretty sure I have seen carnage photos/stories from people after they bought axles. I am sure you could search and find some examples....

    Also not speaking from experience, but from hours trolling the forums and talking to mechanics, if that counts for anything. An UNDAMAGED gen 4 diff with a hendrix or G-force axle or axles will take care of most hop and will last the life of the car if you don't abuse it (clutch dump on a regular basis or power shift, etc.). This is because by eliminating/reducing the wheel-hop, you are eliminating/reducing the major source of stress on the diff. If you hook up the anti-wheelhop axles to a damaged diff, then it will blow eventually. If you go with a CS 8.8 or G-force 9.0 rear diff, you will be in good shape and will not blow it-- it is the strongest, but also the most expensive option.

    Eliminating the wheelhop with axles will eliminate most of the probability of the driveshaft overangulating and ripping the snout off the case. Other issues of wear and tear and not helped by much of anything.
