This past Sunday I go to my car to find the original 8 year old batter is dead; take a trip to the local Walmart (was the only place open at 9 on a Sunday) and get a new 78S Everstart Battery. Let me preface this with the day before when driving down big hill in the Hollywood Hills in second my passenger airbag light randomly came on a off a few times (not sure if that's related but I thought it might be important.)
Anyway fast forward to last night when I pull into my parking space and look at the volts on the car while parked, I give it a few revs, then a few more- then as I crest above 4500 chiming bells come on and don't shut off until I shut off the car and pull out the key. No check enginve light, no limp mode, not crazy oil temp readings.
Was there any message on the NAV screen during the chiming episode? I would double check all the battery connections - a marginal battery or marginal connections/or grounds can cause meaningless error messages. Also, you can get a Check Engine Light if you rev the engine very long - it sets a an error code involving too much engine actiivity and no vehilcle wheel speed.
I put that new battery on in a pretty dark garage- I will definitely take a look at the connection and take the metal wire to the connection side of the cables. I hear what you're saying about the revving but I feel like I've done it before without the same issues (when the car had issues starting (when I say issues I mean not as perfect as a fully charged start) when left for a week.)
I didn't see anything come up on the Nav; I just hope nothings getting hurt by driving like this (but I guess I would at least get check engine if there was a serious issue.) I'll tighten up the battery and update

I've actually had the same thing happen to me a couple of times. I was stopped and gave the car a few good revs. The first time this happened I did the same thing as you, and simply turned the car off to find no adverse affects. The second time I was just about to pull out of my driveway, so instead of turning the car off when the chiming started, I just released the parking brake and pulled away. The second that I released the parking brake the chiming stopped and everything was fine.
I would have to assume the computer has some sort of built in warning to tell you that the parking brake is set when you get on the gas. I don't know why it wouldn't just show a message on the NAV, but I can't think of any other reason why the car would chime.
Lou- you hit the nail on the head- it only happens with the parking brake being on (assuming there is some kind of sensor that triggers when the engine revs past a certain point and the parking brake is on (maybe to alert you to take it off when the car is in motion if its accidentally left on.) All is well- thanks again Gentlemen!
There is an interference issue that causes this. If you notice, the speedometer climbs as well. That is what is setting off the chime. The car thinks its moving with the parking brake on and it chimes. My car does it too, its no big deal. Just take the parking break off.
