    Trunk Release = FAIL

Hey guys hoping someone can provide some words of wisdom. On a nice beautiful sunny day, i notice my truck release feature doesn't work. i have to go in from the back seat and pull the emergency release string inside to open the trunk... when pressing the button on the fob, you can hear the release click like it wants to open, also when pressing the button on the door, but still my trunk takes a second to think about it and decided the best answer is a big fat NO! it seems to only be when it is hot out.... has anyone else had this attitude problem from their V??

Old post,, Darkman, but do you have the attachment you posted here? I have same issue. Took the mechanism off, and seems like the motor is too weak to activate the release.

    Re: Trunk Release = FAIL

My release will work once, after not being used for a while, then it is weak and cannot release the latch. I have taken it apart and believe the electric motor is the issue. I took the motor apart, cleaned the brushes and rotor contacts. It still doesn't work. I then connected the mechanism directly to 12 volts, and it still exhibited the same problem.

I found the motor replacement (less the worm gear) on eBay for $5 shipped. Hoping to be able to remove the old gear and install on new motor. I am doing this to avoid the replacement mechanism from GM for $150.
