At V-day V. When I was there, I was impressed with how well everything on the car worked on the track. But when I saw the pictures, I was impressed with how good the V1's look while doing it.

Going thru withdrawal! Last track day Oct 2011, Next track day last weekend of April if all the snow is melted! MFBA (Midwest F Body Assoc) has the first HPDE weekend at Road America 2012.

Bummer. You need to move to AZ; July is the only month where we don't have a track day.

No pics of the V on track (yet), but here is a good pic of the dedicated track "beast":

When I see a clean, black V1 on the road I still shed a tear for my '04. While the V2 has the outrageous, bulging look, the V1 still has those clean, sharp lines that, to me, will be timeless...

Since it can be LS related...

So this is not on a track, but the action is the same. If not more extreme...

I agree, I think the 1st gen CTS and especially CTS-V draw a real line in the sand style-wise. They are very attractive and the design is pretty timeless, they look as good today as in 2002 when the design was revealed. The only thing that is dated on some of the CTS's are the small/clunky wheels and the rough exhaust tip.

Is heat soak an issue with the V2's on track? If so, how long can you run at 10/10ths before losing power?

Nope, not an issue AT ALL. Almost every track day I've done in the V2 has been in 90+ degree heat. And I'm running modded to about 630hp. My tuner, Behe, was insistent that you do not need a large intercooler and that stock cooling is more than adequate. All the debate in V2 on intercoolers are fine if you go to the drag strip, but on the street and road course, GM gave it plenty of cooling...
