This is not a garage queen, I daily drove it for the past 4 years and parked it outside. The front bumper and hood could use a re-spray. There would be no parting out. I'm thinking of getting a truck for this winter and buying my friend's 2010 z06 next summer as a second vehicle.
I just paid 2k under that for my stock 05 with 77k miles, and mods don't really add to the resale value IMO (despite what others may say). Mine is in pretty cherry condition and has had a ton of parts replaced recently.
With all that said, I'd probably start things out at 19k and work your way down from there..
I guess in your case, I would question if its worth having 2 vehicles (2 insurance payments, 2 car payments, 2 cars to maintain/modify, etc) if you don't really need it. If you daily drove the V for the last 4 years you clearly have a car that can do both jobs, rather than having 2. If you don't "need" a truck other than for snow driving, then I'd say skip it. You're already close to a Z06 in terms of power, just a bit more weight but you also have a back seat and a car that's probably a bit more enjoyable to regularly drive than a Z06.
I've only daily driven RWD cars in the snow, and with the right tires they will run circles around a lot of other cars on the road. People get scared of RWD cars in the snow because they don't know how to drive them in the snow.
Honestly, modified cars are always more to the "modify-er" than they are trying to resell. So unless you're really dead set on selling it and moving on, I'd consider keeping it.
I have a 7 year old son and though he would get some rides in the z06, not on a daily basis. The current safety recommendations are that children should ride in the back seat until they are 13 years old. The 4 door truck would serve that purpose, as well as a transportation in bad weather and the utility for throwing mountain bikes and/or a canoe and fishing poles on top. I also NEED to be able to get into work regardless of the weather, and the V has not always been up to the task with the winters in southeastern PA recently.
As far as power goes, they may be close, but the weight makes all the difference. Having driven a c6 z06 on many occasions, there is simply no comparison between it and my V from a fun factor. Faster, better handling, better transmission, everything is better. I only drive 8 miles to work, and I have driven the Atlantic City and back in the z06 and it was plenty comfortable for that ride, so I'm know the comfort level. Though I appreciate the V for what it is, this z06 is my dream car.
I'm under no delusions about mods increasing value, I know they don't, they only increase interest level for certain buyers.
Agreed. If you're doing 2 vehicles, then buy the truck and partout the V. You'll be getting $ from selling mods to use as payment for the truck/down payment on the Z06. And use the V as trade in. ...no dealing with selling a car...and you'll pocket more money.
As far as price as it sits, Maggie + headers, cats, catback combo definitely ads value. Haven't there been similar mod'ed Vs recently in the classifieds for low $20ks? Seems low to take anything under current sales price....wonder what theyre actually getting...but people have been posting mid-high teens without mods.
Thanks for the responses guys. I'm not sure I'm ready to part with her yet though, I am very conflicted over the thought. The winter wheels/tires will likely not be for sale until the spring.
With those mods.....20K. Stock V's are selling for 17K. In my opinion the OP is dead wrong when it comes to Maggie and other upgrades. If you take it to a dealer for trade in they don't care about the mods, but the people who know about these cars will pay more for the mods you have done. Good luck with the sale....I would love to have a ZO6 as well!!
