    Installing a shifter in my 2007 CTS-V?

Is there a way to install a shifter without dropping the trans? In my mustang the shifter boot just popped right off and you undid 4 screws and that was it...Whats involved here? Cant figure out if the boot is removable and couldnt find any install videos on youtube.

You shouldn't have to drop the transmission unless you have really big hands (assuming stock exhaust). You should be able to reach up there to get at the 1 bolt you need to.

Re: Installing a shifter in my 2007 CTS-V?

There's a very good thread in the Performance Mods forum about "How to install a shifter from the top," or words to that effect. If you go to the end of the thread, I bumped it recently and re-linked all the pictures.

You do still have to get under the car to get to the pivot bolt at the bottom of the shifter. It's definitely a HUGE pain in the ass compared to the Mustang shifter! (A Hurst shifter in my '89 GT was literally the first mod I ever did on a car. )
