cheap wheels - is there such a thing?

I have a set of loose 245/40/18 Nitto NT01 Rcomp tires at the wear bars and would prefer not to dismount my winter setup at $100 a pop to use them and then put the Blizzaks back. That's $100 closer to a 3rd set of wheels...

Maybe just hold them until the winters are done and mount them that spring. Not sure if they'd stay soft 2 years from now ( winters should make 2 seasons). Maybe I should just sell the Rcomps now , anyone want them??

    ::sigh::

Anyone have an Audi A4 and want a set of OEM 17" wheels with summer rubber RE050?? would justify buying wheels for the V.

What track wheels are an option? Anyone have a set of curbed OEM wheels for cheap? ...could pick up at V Day.

There are plenty of cheap wheels out there. They just don't have 6 holes.

Used oem wheels are definitely your best bet at this point.

Keep an eye on ebay and on the classifieds here and on LS1tech for used stockers. The cheapest new wheels that I know of are the Rota Torques, which are $850 or $900.

Re: cheap wheels - is there such a thing?

I picked up a set of OEM wheels just about brand new for $500 from my local Caddy dealer.....

I guess back when the V1s were in the showroom....when someone would want the GM accessory wheels....they would take off the stockers and just pile them up in their parts department and forget about them.

I ended going to my dealer to have my NAVI replaced last year....and the parts guy came out to *ME* and asked if I wanted to buy a set of stockers for my V. I said sure...how much...he said $1200...I was messing with him and said I'll give him $500 cash right now.

He said done...their yours....(he explained he justed wanted them gone and the room back in is parts shop). Well...I gave him 5 Benjamins...got my V out of the shop....drove home....jumped in my truck....went back to the dealer and picked up the rims....

Needless to say...I'm currently getting them painted in a local German shop here in Mercedez-Benz black w/small black/silver metallic flakes for 150 Euros.

Moral of the story....the rims are out there....ping your nearby dealers....cant' hurt!

F1 Supercars, I remember those. Great turn-in as long as you replaced them with every oil change.

I wonder if there was some quality control issues with tread compounds. I got about 18,000 miles out of my originals. I replaced those with Dunlop SP Sport Maxx for a year until I got those wheels and F1s. They were almost brand new but lasted less than 10,000 miles...

Could be. I actually got about 14k on the F1 Supercars and they were not down to the warning bars yet. Some folks toasted them in 6-8k miles. Who knows with Goodyear -

They were truly phenomenal tires. As long as I only drove on dry pavement. The turning response and lateral grip were such as I never experienced before or since.

The rears on mine were done at a little over 5000 miles. I moved the fronts to the back and I think those got me to about 15000 miles. Which surprised me because it means they lasted over twice as long the original rears.
