    K&N Intake popping off problem

OK, I need help on this one guys. I have searched to the end of the internet and cannot find anything on this issue. The problem I am having is the K&N cold air intake I have on my 05 V keeps poping off the throttle body. I have checked all nuts and bolts, everything seems to be fastened correctly, yet that intake tube keeps slipping out some way or another. Any help or advise would be great! thanks guys!

You can replace the connecting tubes and clamps.

    I used silicone tubing.

You shouldn't have any pressure causing the K&N to "pop" off. I can see if you were turbocharged or something. Did you tighten down the worm gear clamps sufficiently? I had no problems for a lot of miles with my K&N.

Also you could look into t bolt clamps as well, not only do they hold much better but they look "cleaner" as well IMHO.

It is the motor "torquing over" that breaks the connection.

You may need motor mounts also.

Yea, I don't believe it's a pressure issue, I think it is a torque issue. IMO I think the motor is shifting and causing the tube to pop off. So you think it's a motor mount issue then?

    Bunch of noob answers
Try loosening the bolts that hold down the shroud. That way the whole kit will move with the motor.

True...but that doesn't fix the cause of the original problem (i.e. possibly bad motor mounts)...which could maybe lead to other more costly repairs...

A sure tell sign is if you hear the engine bang around when you load it... I agree just leave the intake mounts loose, so it has freedom to move. I had the same problem when my mounts were bad

The only noise I hear is when I get in it and then I go to shift and I hear this loud clunck. But I read somewhere this could be the engine torquing over and that it's normal.

Thanks for all your help on this guys! You have saved me hours of endless research on this.

Re: K&N Intake popping off problem

Just loosen the shroud so it moves with the tube. Keep the tube/MAF tight.

Sounds like you need new mounts. Just to be sure, you hear a thud after you floor it as your pressing in the clutch pedal, right? This is what mine was doing as the engine dropped back onto the mount.

Exactly Tony, that is exactly the noise I hear. So I need to replace the motor mounts then. Did you have to replace both or just one? Did you use stock or aftermarket mounts? Lastly did you do it yourself or have it done. Thanks Tony

I'd replace them all with aftermarket... Creative Steel makes awesome mounts
